Occidental Cozumel

Was on vacation to celebrate my sister's recent wedding and to get away with my fiancé. The trip also included many of my sister's/her husband's friends and my parents. Me and my fiancé stayed in the royal level junior suite, which was very beautiful. We loved the double balcony and spacious rooms. The mattress was very comfortable and the room had all needed amenities. The beach and pool near the beach were our favorite. Only issue was trying to obtain beach chairs unless you were up at the beach very early (like 6am). Transportation to downtown from the resort was easy to request, but you need to pay for each ride to and from and depending on how many people you have with you it will cost more after every 4th person in your group (we often got stuck paying for a group of 4 to add one person). We were slightly disappointed with the food quality at the resort and the struggle it was to get a reservation at the restaurants on the resort. The quality of the food at the restaurants was much better then the big buffet, if you can get a reservation. Also had an issue trying to take food from the buffet. One day the staff provided me a to go plate to take breakfast back to my fiancé at room, due to going to breakfast after working out at the gym. The next day when I asked they told me no one is allowed to take food from the buffet. Hard to enjoy all inclusive food and buffet if you can't easily access it. I, myself, was very disappointed in the coffee situation at the resort. There was no ice coffee and the coffee machine at the buffet was out of service the whole week we were there, so the only option was single served hot coffee at the buffet or making it in our room. Staff at the resort were very friendly and everything appeared clean and overall maintained. It felt very welcoming and comfortable throughout the resort. Overall, me and my fiancé would stay again. overall pros: Royal level junior suite cleanliness Easy to request transportation off the resort friendly staff beach/beach pool and bar late night pizza overall cons: not being able to take away food from the buffet difficulties with obtaining restaurant reservations limited coffee options (no ice coffee) and broken coffee machine in the buffet all week

Check in was very long about an hour.. Thats ok.. No balcony in room.. oh well. Air Con was perfect and quiet and shut off when temp was reached. Beds were good. Difficult to book Al a Carte .. Food was good and something for everyone. Coffee machine broke down often and the regular poured was not good. If you want to go snorkeling as first how many people are on the boat. Too many are not good. We just book at the dive shop and a small boat came and only 10 on the boat... wonderful Chairs by the pool were difficult but after 3 day found out only a hotel towel reserves the chair.. nothing else. So in the morning at 10 am I walked down to the chairs and removed a book and running shoes and a old t shirt and put them aside and placed my towel on the chair... I did this every day never had a problem. Every day I had 2 chairs on the pool deck.. Some on said to me that they reserved this chair and I said sorry no towel was on this chair and they walked away... too bad so sad.. Just remove the object... someone acturally had an old wet t shirt they put on the night before... or a plastic pale... Ocean is wonderful and the guy who was attacked is doing well.. so swim during the day time only. Lifeguards are great.. Ask them to watch you. One last thing, if you are new to this Resort right after you get your room as you turn the corner on the left are people who try to help you, be warned they are stictly into a 32 thousand usd time share.. Do NOT under no circumstances show you around.. Once you are booked for a time share you are doomed.. trust me..This will ruin your holiday.. This is my and my wife independant review of this resort.
