Southern Palms Beach Club

We had a very wonderful time at this hotel, our view from room 242 was superb, had a early morning cuppa on the balcony, listening to the birds and watching the ocean waves roll. The hotel is very clean, our room was always lovely and clean, our bed on arrival had been decorated with flowers as we were celebrating a belated 20th wedding anniversary. The food in the restaurant was of good quality, priced fairly well in comparison to other restaurants. Drinks were good, only downside was some of the staff did not show they were happy in their jobs. Entertainment was very good , was a shame we didn't hear the steel band. Beach was beautiful but did not see a turtle, sea could be a bit rough at times . Jennie on reception is a credit to the hotel as was the bell porter, how he carried our cases I do not know. We went on a trip to Harrisons Cave which was good and went to Harbour Lights near Carlisle Bay, both were a must. Met some lovely Canadian guests. Would have liked to stay longer, hope to be back sometime.

This hotel is perfectly located to explore the Island and has the convenience of being in St Lawrence Gap meaning plenty of bars and restaurants a short stroll away! The room we had was a good size, well equipped with kettle, small kitchenette, iron and board plus hairdryer. Shower was excellent and the bathroom was cleaned and restored each day! The beds were so comfortable meaning we slept well. The beach front location is unbeatable and the beach itself is stunning. Plenty of beds meaning you could choose to lounge on the beach or by the pool depending on your mood. Beach towels provided and can be swapped at reception when required. We have been so impressed we have booked to come back again next year!

This was our 1st Xmas abroad and to say it hasn’t disappointed would be an understatement. Outstanding hotel and the location is paradise! We are currently in a garden room (117) which is overlooking the pool and garden terrace restaurant and also the beach! The staff are fabulous and the people in Barbados are probably one of the most hospitable and pleasant I have ever encountered. Today is Xmas day and the show they put on this morning with Santa, catapulted everyone into the spirit of the day. The children’s faces were wonderful to see. Our room is not dated as some have suggested it’s authentic to the country we are in and typically Barbadian! Do I want to leave …NO, will I be returning absolutely! The area has plenty of bars and restaurants near by and there is plenty to do here or not if you just wish to soak up the idyllic beach, sunshine and swim with the turtles! Thank you Southern Palms we be leaving to go home and start saving to come back again!

Just leaving after another fabulous holiday at the Southern Palms. Don’t listen to the gripes about staff - if you take the time to engage then you get bit back in spades. That’s how life works… Yes, the rooms are a little tired but hey, you get what you pay for in this game. If you want a hotel that looks and feels like a million more around the globe then pay twice the price and book yourself into a West coast bubble. We will be back again soon…,,

3rd time at this hotel, located right on Dover beach, beautiful white sand & turquoise water. Rooms are great, especially sea view ones. Brilliant massage at salon next door and best aqua zumba class ever! Didn't eat at the hotel as lovely cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. Most staff are wonderful, but I've taken off 1 star from the review for the frosty and unwelcoming reception I received, even though I was the only person checking in. Would I return? Hell yeah!

Another fantastic stay at this hotel! Our room was kept spotlessly clean...thank you to Cherry Ann for making sure the room was set up exactly as we wanted. Big shout outs to June ( behind the bar)..always happy to refill our water bottles, Michaela (serving drinks round the pool and on the beach)...always had a smile and continually checked we were ok, and David ( the water sports guy)....couldnt do enough for us! The hotel setting is stunning and completely make this a wonderful place to stay. Agree with others that service for food can be a bit "hit or miss" depending on which waitress/ restaurant manager is working!

We have recently returned from another wonderful holiday at The Southern Palms Hotel . This was our third visit and did not disappoint. The hotel has a laid back vibe right on the beautiful Dover beach . There are no umbrellas on the beach because turtles lay their eggs beneath the sand and the nests are protected but there are lovely palm trees for shade and a flag system ensures you are never without a drink . Breakfast is a leisurely affair with a wonderful view of the beach .There is a good choice of food including a great juice made from spinach and fruit . Omelettes and eggs of every type are made freshly and staff serve tea and coffee . We had a suite with a side sea view which was spacious and kept spotlessly clean with great air con . We feel welcome each time we go back and would not want this charactful hotel to change and become ultra modern . Sunday lunch is a highlight , a buffet accompanied by a Steele band right next to the beach, Just fantastic . The food in general is good although there can be a wait to be served . Jo Anna is particularly welcoming and friendly always smiling and helpful she clearly enjoys her job . The turtles in the sea and the baby hatchlings on the beach make this place very special we will be back again .
