Just okay. Much better resorts here

I wouldn’t recommend a long stay here. Although the views are amazing, that’s all you’re going to get. The customer service is lacking, the pool is very small, the menu is very limited and there are no other places of interest near by. The resort is very cheap and looks to charge for anything. The checkout process is horrendous. They require you to checkout at 10am, and do not allow later, even if you try to request it early. You can get the same views at other resorts here. Seychelles is very beautiful but has no cultural experiences or good food. Good luck on your journey and I’ve been as honest as I can.

The perfect place for a perfect holiday!

We stayed at ValMer Resort (Baie Lazare) from 26 March to 4 April 2024 and we found this one of the best holidays ever. Although we've been to several beautiful places (e.g. in the Maldives) before we were amazed by the welcoming atmosphere, the excellent service and the beautiful design of ValMer Resort.
Accommodation: The rooms (we booked and ocean view suite) are big, clean and offer some convenient features such as a king size bed, air conditioning, TV, safe, coffee maker, kettle as well as a fully equipped kitchenette. We also enjoyed the wide balcony with a scenic view and fruit bats and geckos hanging around in the trees next to us. :-)
Setting and scenery: ValMer Resort is located close (4 min walking distance) to Bai Lazare, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles for swimming, surfing or snorkeling. The resort fits in very well with the landscape as it has been designed accordingly. Rocks, palm trees and exotic vegetation are appealingly integrated so that you get an authentic feeling of the Seychelles wildlife.
Service and Food: Both service and food at ValMer Resort can only be described as extraordinary. All staff members have been very friendly, supportive and welcoming at all times. Receptionists straightforwardly took care of all of our inquiries, house keeping and room service spring-cleaned our room every day. We also got two Spa treatments which were very relaxing and can be booked for a reasonable price.
The service at the restaurant with a view (which is beautifully located next to the infinity pool) as well as the food being served was one of the best we ever experienced. There was a buffet for breakfast and dinner, which offered local high quality food and varied between different delicious styles such as, Creole, Italien, Asian or international. We enjoyed every night and every chat with the restaurant staff.
In sum, this was an amazing holiday and we can't wait to come back to the Seychelles. See you soon, ValMer Resort!
All the best,
Diana and Pete Quest

We had an incredible experience! Very attentive staff, buffet dinner with various types of cuisine and varied breakfast. I highly recommend staying at the pool village with a private infinity pool and the couples massage, which is wonderful!
The Most Beautiful Hotel in the South!
This is the best hotel in the South of the Island! The Staff is very nice, and the food is amazing, mainly the dinner, with different themed food each night. The hotel is very close to 2 beautiful beaches and the massages are some of the best I've ever had!

We stayed in Valmer Resort for 3 nights, in a sea view room, which is I believe the most basic unit in the property. Nevertheless, the room was very big, the balcony was great, and so was the view, especially before sunset - we made some amazing photos. The best part of our stay was the food, from very rich breakfast, to outstanding dinner menu. The chefs are out of this world, and if you can afford it, take the half-board option. The staff is amazing, from the reception, to spa (we had a massage and everything was great). The location is also good, if you have your own rental car (it is not walking distance to the beach or any other attractions), parking is provided free of charge.
What bothered me a little was that there is no complimentary coffee or tea in the room (kettle is provided, but you need to pay for tea/coffee bags), which a rookie mistake - you can get free coffee/tea at any other (much cheaper) place. The toiletries in the bathroom are also quite basic, just okay-ish. If you get a good deal, go for it, everything else was perfect.

The location is great, nice pool area. The staff was outstanding, food of really good quality. We liked the lunch menu best. In the evening there is a buffet.
During the day we spent our time relaxing at the pool or went down to the beach, a few hundred meters away. If you want to do excursions, you can rent a car in the hotel (we paid 65 € a day including insurance) or you just go to the bus stop directly in front of the resort.
We enjoyed our stay and our rating for this category is 5*. One thing you should be aware: the resort spans up a hill. Restaurant and pool are on the upper side (great view). The caveat: you might have to climb up quite
some stairs.
Would we come again? A clear yes!

We chose this place for our honeymoon. And we can say that this is the best honeymoon we could imagine, as staying here brings us great pleasure.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with delicious welcome cocktails. Very friendly and helpful staff at the reception. You can move around the hotel by Golfcar, which is very convenient especially when you are tired. Golfcar drivers are very friendly and will always come and take you to your room.
The grounds are very well maintained and clean with great views and beautiful rocks.
Rooms in the hotel with amazing views, we have an ocean view. Very bright, cozy, and clean (which is the most important for me), high-quality cleaning is here every day. The bed is very comfortable and soft. The internet in the room works quite well.
The restaurant is always fresh and divinely delicious food. Incredibly nice staff, very friendly and caring. Very fast service and nice food.

After 10 days spent at ValMer Resort, I could say that I had a wonderful experience.
The resort is beautiful, 5 minutes away from a nice beach and located in south west of the island Mahe, which is ideal because there are several beautiful beaches located in this part of the island.
We had a nice room with ocean view, very clean and comfortable.
The pool and the restaurant are located on the top of the resort, which is perfect because there some great landscapes around that could be seen from that area.
I must say that the food at the restaurant was excellent, during our stay there. Different dishes, we had steak, fish, seafood, burger, different types of chicken, etc.
The staff is very friendly and polite, Kissen who is the manager and Ryan Camille, the chef, were always interested if we are happy with the food and drinks and asked constantly if we need anything else that could make us feel more comfortable and happier.
I made friends with them and also with Shah and Shafiul who are working at the restaurant and serving al the pool, as well.
They were extremly nice and always looking to improve your experience and to make you feel like you were at home.
The cocktails are very good, I would recommend the ones with coconut rum, which are so great and tasty.
To conclude, I would definitely recommend ValMer resort as your accomodation during the wonderful Seychelles experience

I don’t want to be unfair so i would start by saying that the propriety is very beautiful and exotic, the location is quiet, close to Baie Lazare beach, the room was big, also the terrace was nice and big with a seaview, they have parking so if you rent a car it’s very convenient.
They provide umbrellas in case of rain and also pool towels.
Would i recommend it? No! Would i go again? No! I’ve been to Seychelles before, stayed at a rental and had more quality time than at Valmer.
The little details usually make the difference and this is the case of Valmer too:
- the bathroom is basicly in the room, for the WC itself there is a door but a formal one so noises and smells will be in all the room and for the shower there is not even a curtain ;
- THE MIGHTY INTERNET- while we were not there for spending time online, being able to speak with relative or to download an email in less than 20 min was impossible. The dowload speed was 0.93 Mbps so it’s basicly a household internet shared with a whole resort. Their answer was, quote “is not like in Europe here”. Pardon me, your country has 5G… we bought a local SIM and we used it
- the breakfast is included, i will not comment about the lack of its quality but i will do mention about the fact that they served expired butter on 26.12 & 30.12 serving butter from 12.12 and that i found hairs in the bread basket
- before arrival we received and email in which they informed us that there is a gala dinner for NYE at a supplimentary cost of 45 eur/ pers. Knowing about the curfew of the island (11 pm), i asked if the night will be until 12:00 am so we can enjoy the arrival of the new year and they said untill 01:00 am. One day before i wrote them again and they confirmed 01:00 am so i have written confirmations. In the night of the 31 of december, the last orders were taken arround 09:30 pm and by 10:30 pm all the restaurant was clear due to the rudness of the staff, cleaning everything and clearing everything from the table (they even took our champagne and when they realised it was half full they bring it back) so yes, we spend the New Year in the room paying for a Gala Dinner. Btw, not one single drink included, not even a water
- They never announce if the dinner is buffet or a la carte and the timeframe for dinner is from 19:00 to 20:30 so basicly it happened to arrive at 20:00 for a buffet dinner (which is almost 50 euros/ person) only to be rushed to eat in 30 minutes, the restaurant staff (with 2-3 exceptions) is very rude and always make you feel unwelcome. It is true that the same staff was every day in the 11 days we were there but this is a management problem, it shouldn’t be mine, as tourist. Unfortunately we had to eat at the hotel some dinners due to lack of options arround.
Also i have to mention that we are coming from Turkey and as a world known country for its hospitality, maybe we had a little bit too high expectation for a decent stay.

We spent 4 nights here on arrival. The roadside rooms are currently not in service, we had a large quiet clean hillside room, no 9, with kitchenette (2 of everything), sofa and table, and big balcony with cushioned chairs & table. Fast Wi-fi in the room. The dining room and upper pool are lovely, plenty of long chairs by the pool, and staff friendly and efficient (thank you Judy & Shah). Breakfast pancakes/omelettes etc, fresh fruit, not always ripe. Dinner a good mix of creole & European, large glass of wine €5. We walked 10 minutes left out of the gate to an 8to8 store to buy salad/tuna etc for lunch. 10 minutes right out of the gate is a small bakery, closes at midday. Rained one day so used the well equipped gym, turn on the AC an hour before you want to use it. Ludovik, the manager is superb, makes a point of talking to all the guests. Reception staff seem disinterested, so ask Ludovik if you want any info. He printed off the local bus timetable for us, there are stops right by the hotel and it is a fun, safe and cheap way to explore.
Major drawback is that the hotel is built on the side of a very steep hill, with lots of steps between the rooms, pools & restaurant, take a torch as it is not very well illuminated at night. It is also very isolated, just ok for 4 days, we were ready to move on.
Baie Lazare beach is beautiful, but big waves when we were there so no snorkelling, safest bathing on far left hand side, lots of shade.

Our honeymoon trip was running well till the last destination on Mahe at The Valmer Resort Hotel .It was the worst experience we had and this affected our nice trip mainly due to the bad behaviour and attitude of the front desk supervisor ,who was ill mannnered arrogant and abusive verbal language.
The villa we hired was supposed to be a Pool Villa which was not to the standard ,dirts was found in the living ,small beast were entering the room ,this was slightly acceptable but the reaction to this with the in the in charge was negative as we were told to leave if we are not happy ,as it is the Manager decision.
i will never come there again also never recommend to anyone to live that experience.
