Riu Negril

Our second visit and it was amazing. Fantastic staff from check-in, Porters, Entertainment, Bars and restaurants. Couldn’t fault a thing. Room kept spotless and so comfy, everything you need. Food fantastic and so much choice. The entertainment staff really are the life and soul. Loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you to every member of staff we met, all amazing

The staff was fantastic from the moment we stepped foot on the resort grounds. Ambience, food, entertainment & energy - all exceptional this trip! Staff? We could name everybody but a few stood out. Thio immediately helped with luggage. Casantia at the customer service desk was able to help get us checked in - as we had a first timer this trio. RIU taff was top notch and personable the entire stay. ShanaLee and Shadow from RiuFit were exceptional. Dalton & Jamaine at the pool area bars took great care. There wasn't a bad team member went above and beyond to assure we had a great trip. Only constructive input is the Riu Tropical Palace has the better beach - but we trekked over to Seven Mile Beach and took advantage of the miles of white sand and blue waters. We just returned from a fabulous week at Riu Negril. Here are our observations: Staff: The staff are outstanding. Housekeeping, bar staff, restaurant servers, everyone was super pleasant. Entertainment: WOW. These guys bring it, all day and night, such infectious energy. They run games on the beach, fun games by the pool and fantastic shows at night. They work so hard, their energy is infectious. It was also amazing to be in Jamaica on Bob Marley's birthday, they had a great show dedicated to him and his music. Shadow, Shaq, Brian, all of them are great. Shanalee is the fitness queen, she is amazing, we loved her! Food: The food was fantastic, we felt spoiled for choice. The buffet was always great, some similar items each meal but always something new so it never felt repetitive. The Sports Bar is great for a mid-afternoon snack of nachos and beer, or for an early morning coffee before breakfast starts at 7. Room: We booked an Oceanfront room, it was in Bldg 2. It was a perfect distance to walk to everything, and far enough that you don't hear the music if you want to turn in early. It looked directly over the beach and the ocean with the incredible sound of the waves with the balcony door open. The bar is always fully stocked and they will put whatever soft drinks you want in your fridge. We left the housekeeping staff a nice tip when we left for all their hard work. Booking Specialty Restaurants: It can be very difficult to get a reservation on the app because they book up so quickly, and you can only book 2 days out. A tip is to stay up until midnight when tables for the following night are available to book. We booked the Steak House and the Italian place Luigi, and enjoyed the Steak House more mostly for the ambiance. If you can only book 1 I would recommend the Steak House. Considering what this country and its people went through only a few months ago, the resort is beautiful as are the people who worked so hard to make our holiday so memorable. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

Just back from this hotel and had a fantastic weeks holiday. I am basing my review on cleanliness, comfort, food quality, standards, attention to detail and friendliness of staff and was very impressed with all of the above especially considering the recent hurricane. If I was to be really picky the food in the kulinarium restaurant was quite bland and the lack of a sparkling wine around the property was disappointing but the drinks were of a good quality. If you are looking for a clean, well run, value for money holiday this is the place to go. Thankyou for a wonderful time!

Just returned from a lovely 11 night break. Check in was smooth and room was huge and immaculately clean. We were in block 4 with a sea view. We ate at the à la carters every night apart from the first night. Food was incredible at breakfast lunch & dinner with huge choice and impeccable service. Drinks were good and the service of all the staff we encountered was excellent. Beach was beautiful although the sea was cloudy due to bad weather and not the clear water I was expecting this didn’t dampen our trip Excellent value for money and would definitely return

The location is quite secluded nothing is in an easy walk outside the hotel . The only down point is the sea. It’s hard to get into and is full of silt not the picture postcard sea you expect when coming to Jamaica Wonderful welcoming atmosphere all the staff and the locals on the beach are extremely welcoming and polite. Rooms are lovely we stayed I. A double standard room mini bar was well stocked and completely free to use as it’s inc in the all inc. was it value for money 100% yes very clean and the grounds and beach are well taken care of. We didn’t have much noise we was on the ground floor block 1 and never had a problem with noise. I would make everyone aware of the sand up across from block 4. We went down to the beach from the path way and got caught in quicksand luckily we wasn’t to shook up. But have both suffered minor pains and strains from it. Reported it to the supervisor available and whilst she was very apologetic we are still to receive an apology from the manager or headquarters of Riu . I lost an expensive trainer that I was told would be recovered it has not been.

We enjoyed a lovely stay here for 2 weeks. The hotel is beautifully new and clean. Our room was in block 2- always serviced immaculately. The staff are all so friendly and happy. Really enjoyed the food and drinks- great choices. 24hr sports bar was brilliant. The beach was beautiful and peaceful. Loved that we could use the kayaks and pedalo’s for free. We booked a snorkelling trip through the hotel scuba caribe guys and it was ace. The entertainment team were such fun and delivered great shows. We really enjoyed the Rum Shot band a lot. My only thoughts for improvement- I couldn’t see any hand sanitiser on offer anywhere. I always think it’s a good idea to have the stations around food and drinks areas as everyone is touching the same serving spoons etc and you can’t be sure everyone has clean hands. Note to self- remember to take a small my bottle myself in my bag as this could be the case in other hotels now also. Overall, we couldn’t complain about anything, it was amazing.

Great hotel and service etc , had a great time. Great room ( for extra cost , but worth the expense). Staff very friendly. Beautiful views across Bloody Bay. The only thing spoilt our stay was the guests in neighbouring rooms (4214) who insisted on smoking cigarettes and ganja in their rooms ( which set off the fire alarms - three times on our first night ) they also smoked on their balconies which meant we had to shut our screen doors and go inside instead of enjoying the views. ( smoking in rooms and on balconies is expicitly forbidden in the hotel). We informed reception several times but nothing changed. I would suggest no smoking penalty signs on balconies would be a good start. Our only problem was with the swimming from the beautiful beach , where after about 3 metres the bottom became a rather soft and clinging mud which stopped one getting into deeper and clear water. Safe and secure. Dealers leave you alone after a polite no thank you! We travelled in a group of 15 to Rui Negril, we were all very impressed by the resort, the standards were very high. The cleanliness and attention to detail, plenty of staff to assist at the bars or restaurants. Lots of beach chairs and pool chairs. Very stylish hotel rooms, plenty of space and everything you could need. The resort was recently renovated and upgraded, we could not find fault. The restaurants and food were truly wonderful, we loved the buffet where you could find, pasta, stir fry, plenty of fish or chicken and the pork and beef was tender, lots of salad options, mussels, shrimps etc. Desserts were all good and a chocolate fountain and ice cream. The Ala carte Restaurants were all good, and the servers excellent, we found even the wine was good. Entertainment was good. The beach nice and sandy, only drawback while we were there, was the ocean was not clear due to the weather, which was making the waves crash, but also you could not view the bottom of the ocean to enter. Which is nothing to do with the hotel. We all said we would highly recommend and return one day. A great place to relax...

Just returned after a 10 night stay. I shall write as I found but everyones opinion differs. The journey from the airport was not great, nothing to do with the hotel but be warned the roads are horrendous with many potholes, it took nearly 2 hrs after flying over 10 hrs so very long journey. Upon arrival, we were offered a drink in reception, check in was quick and wristbands applied. Our room was ok but too far from reception for partner to walk, we changed next day to block 1 , lovely big room 1026, however no view from balcony but it did the job, two massive beds, really comfortable, double sink unit, huge shower and drinks cabinet included. The hotel is very well kept, lovely gardens, clean pools, bar staff amazing, all so happy to assist you, loved the jammin bar, great staff, they do great cocktails. Well done to all of them Food was mainly plentiful, however some days the buffet food could be better, breakfast sometimes was luke warm or they had ran out of eggs and bread which is crazy for the amount of guests. Overall there's plenty to choose from, other restaurants available on the app. The beach was small compared to what we're used to, it was clean but nothing special, lots of beds available all of good quality. The hotel we found was secluded, nowhere outside to walk to, however there are boats to take trips over to 7 mile beach or go to Ricks cafe which was amazing day out. You can walk along the beach where there are some shacks, all selling the same , it's a nice walk and a bar to stop at half way. We took a taxi to the black river and saw many crocodiles, the area had been hit by the hurricane but they are doing their best to repair it. Glad we saw this. Entertainment was brilliant, the team worked day and night to make sure everyone was having a great time, the night shows were also amazing, they really deserve a shout, well done all. Our room was cleaned daily and towels changed It was our first time in Jamaica and enjoyed our stay, we made the most of the time there, if you're happy just to stay at the hotel and chill, this is for you, the staff will make your holiday a happy one .
