The Explorean Cozumel

The Explorean and their staff are incredible! This is our 4th trip with our two kids (9 and 5 this year) and we absolutely love it. Jassiel, Nestor, Ariel, Edgar, Miguel, Jonny, Alejandra, Jason, Gabriel and all the staff are helpful, so kind to our kids, always wear a smile and make us feel so welcome. The excursions are fun and the staff make it easy and enjoyable for all age and abilities. Our favorite is el cielo boat ride with Jassiel and Nestor! The staff are quick and responsive when we have needed extras like a kids bed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable full of amenities. The breakfast basket left at the front of our door every morning is a perfect way to start our days. We will be returning for sure!!

The Explorean is the best of all worlds. Quiet, secluded jungle location but close to the beach and entertainment/dining options of the larger Fiesta Americana; lots of great excursion options but also a beautiful pool/open air lobby where you can relax all day; and minimal distracting amenities (TV, etc.) but comfortable, modern rooms. The high point is definitely the people, though. Rubi at the front desk is a true stand-out, the epitome of hospitality. Jassiel, Vega and Armando made the tours seamless and fun, and Claudia, Edwin and Jesus (Lol K'aan), Manuel (Italian restaurant), and Alejandra (buffet) were welcoming and helpful. The boat tour, buggy tour (first 3 hours, anyway), and cenote bike trip were our favourites, and the circus show at Fiesta Americana was surprisingly impressive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Explorean in Cozumel. We were able to take part in the festivities and enjoy all the restaurants at the Fiesta Americana when we wanted but we were always happy to get back to the calm atmosphere of the Explorean. Even our grandchildren (9 and 13) enjoyed the quieter pool at the Explorean especially after tiring themselves out snorkelling which they could do just a short walk from our rooms. They did that several times each day, even the day we were leaving (as we, the grandparents, were fretting that we would miss our shuttle to the airport 😊). The staff was awesome. They were so welcoming and went way out of their way to make our stay special. Special thanks to Rubi! The daily adventures provided by the Explorean were super. The adventure team led by Jassiel was fantastic! The buggy ride around the island and the boat trip that included great snorkelling stand out but the other adventures were so much fun, also. The adventure team made sure of that! We treasure our memories from our trip to The Explorean Cozumel. Thank you to everyone there.

What an amazing vacation! Our time at The Explorean Cozumel was even better than we hoped it would be. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Juan Carlos, the concierge, was so friendly and helpful. He checked on us daily, always asking if there was anything we needed. We loved how clean, quiet and secluded it was at The Explorean. The individual units tucked into the jungle and surrounding areas were so well maintained. Again, everyone from maintenance to restaurant staff was so friendly and attentive. The food at Lol K'an was delicious, with many options. We were well cared for by everyone, but especially by Louis, Gabriel, Jesus and Edwin. We ate there except for lunches, which we enjoyed on the beach at The Fish Shack. We never had to wait and had a variety of yummy dishes, with a different "special" each day. Jose greeted us and was patient in explaining what the specials were, even if he wasn't our waiter! Talk about All Inclusive, The Explorean takes it to a new level, including daily excursions at no extra cost. The staff who lead the excursions are excellent. It had been over 20 years since we had snorkeled. Jassiele and Santiago did an amazing job of teaching and working with each of us. I was so impressed by Jassiele, free diving down to point out turtles, stingrays, nurse shark and other marine life that I would have missed because of their camouflage. It was a great preparation for the excursion to El Cielo, with more snorkeling, star fish and the stingrays at the sandbar - Jassiele and Ariel took great care of us. We did The Buggy Tour, with Gerardo Vega and Ariel. Fun time and enjoyed the Tequila tour. Once again, staff was great. The water is crystal clear, turquoise blue and you can snorkel right from the property! Bring beach shoes to protect your feet. Having The Explorean affiliated with The Fiesta Americana, provides "the best of both worlds!" We enjoyed the evening entertainment at The Fiesta Americana. They have a very talented dance/ acrobatic troupe. Shows have different themes. Circus show was really good. Don't miss The Fire Show!! Then we would go back to the peace and quiet of The Explorean. We certainly were pleased with our choice of The Explorean Cozumel All Inclusive for our vacation!

We read many reviews before choosing to go to The Explorean Cozumel. What a great decision. The Explorean exceeded our expectations in every way. From our casita nestled in the near jungle setting to the amazing attentive staff we could not have asked for more. Each casita is basically a two story fourplex and each unit has its own private balcony that looks out into the jungle foliage. We had the King bed option and found everything we needed in the unit. Housekeeping was there every day without fail. The short walk from our casita to the lobby, pool and Lol K'an Restaurant was beautiful and always immaculately clean. There were very few times that my wife and I were walking on the path that we did not see one or even numerous staff members working on the grounds and keeping even the leaves swept from the pathway. Even the staff that tended to the grounds greeted us with a smile and a friendly "hola". Talk about service with a smile, the wait staff at the Lol K'an Restaurant were fantastic. Louis, Jesus, Gabriele, and Edwin were standouts in regards to service. It was not unusual for the staff to call you by name and remember if you wanted juice or coffee with your breakfast. Honestly, with the exception of the beach side Fish Shack, we ate all of our meals at Lol K'an. The food was great, plenty of menu options, always hot and the open air quiet jungle setting was wonderful. I don't know if they are there on a regular basis, but on Saturday night there was a talented musical duo that played live music. I just mentioned the beach side Fish Shack or Fish Hut. The real name is La Cervecheria. Great fresh seafood and everyday they had a different Chef's Special. If you are like us and are not fluent in Spanish, don't worry. I have to praise Jose for his ability and willingness to explain what the specials were. All the staff at the Fish Shack/Hut were very helpful and soon knew what we would be having to drink. Speaking of drinks. This is one all inclusive that does not skimp when it comes to their mixed drinks. Not being a connoisseur of alcoholic beverages, I cannot say that all the alcohol served was top shelf, but I recognized most liqueur at the bars as being name brand. I asked for Kalua on the rocks, and I got name brand Kalua not coffee liquor. If you are looking for the biggest bang for the buck, The Explorean has it. Besides all the things I have mentioned, Remember there are daily excursions that are included at no additional charge. If you have ever booked an excursion on a cruise or at an all inclusive you know that excursions can be pricey. At The Explorean, all you have to do is show up at the scheduled time on the correct day to have a wonderful excursion experience led by extremely helpful, friendly activities coordinators. I would be remiss if I did not at least mention by name some of the activities coordinators. Our first snorkeling excursion was with Jassiele and Santiago. These young men took about eight adults out to snorkel with some being novice, some not having snorkeled for 20-30 years. They were great. I don't believe anyone felt left behind, and they were so helpful and attentive. It was so pleasant when they referred to us as "familia". Jassiele is able to free dive and he would dive down and point out the different sea creatures. A great all around experience.

Our snorkeling trip to El Cielo was an unforgettable experience, and what truly made it exceptional was the outstanding staff and level of service throughout the entire day. From the moment we arrived, the team was warm, welcoming, and incredibly organized. They took the time to explain the itinerary clearly, making sure everyone felt comfortable and excited about the adventure ahead. Their professionalism immediately stood out, but what impressed us most was how genuinely friendly and attentive they were. During the snorkeling portion, the guides (Vega Hoa and Nestor) were patient and highly knowledgeable. They ensured that everyone—regardless of experience level—felt safe and confident in the water. They were always nearby, pointing out marine life and making sure we didn’t miss the breathtaking starfish that El Cielo is known for. When we reached the area with the stingrays, the staff handled everything with great care and respect for the animals, creating a magical yet responsible encounter. The service went far beyond just guiding the tour. The crew frequently checked in on us, offered refreshments, and made sure we were comfortable at all times. Their positive energy was contagious, and it created a fun, relaxed atmosphere that made the whole trip even more enjoyable. What could have been just a beautiful snorkeling trip turned into a truly memorable experience thanks to the dedication and kindness of the staff. Their attention to detail, safety, and guest satisfaction made all the difference. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone—not only for the stunning scenery of El Cielo, but for the incredible team that makes the experience so special.

We loved our trip! The Explorean was everything I was hoping it would be. The rooms were nice, and the service was excellent. A big thank you to Gabriel at Lool Kan who was always so friendly. Another big thank you to Jassiel, Santiago, and the rest of the tour crew - we had the best time. Looking forward to next time.

We had a fantastic stay at the Explorean in Cozumel. The excursions were truly the highlight of the trip—well organized, adventurous, and a great way to experience the natural beauty of the island. Every day felt like a new opportunity to explore something unique. We would like to give special thanks to the entire adventure team (Nestor, Mr. Vega, Jassiel, Armando, and the rest of the team) The atmosphere at the resort struck the perfect balance between fun and quiet relaxation. Angel kept it lively around the front pools, but you will still peace and laid-back relaxation in the back when you wanted to unwind. The staff did a great job creating an environment where you could easily switch between adventure mode and total vacation mode. Our room was also very well managed and consistently clean, which made it easy to relax after long days of activities. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a mix of adventure and comfort while visiting Cozumel.

Jazziel, Santiago, Ariel, Nestor, and all the tour guides were excellent! El Cielo is a must see. Recommend the Mayan cultural tour, Chaukanaab, and the snorkeling (if you're a beginner or don't remember how to snorkel). The tour guides were friendly and explained everything well. We always felt safe and it was lovely getting to know the island of Cozumel through the excursions. We recommend the ones offered through Explorean.

Amazing experience. We loved our stay. Snorkeling was fantastic right at resort. Staff are exceptional and friendly. I would like to recognize some that made our stay so special! Tour guides-Armando, Nestor, Gerardo., Jassiel. I was incredibly impressed with their attention to guests and their friendliness. Look Kan-Claudia, Edwin, Jesus, Isabela and Gabriel were outstanding. Thanks Isabela for recognizing our anniversary and bringing us a special dessert. Mexican restaurant-Felix was an ultra attentive server. The Ceverechia -Jose was our server twice and is very kind! All staff at this resort should be commended for their friendliness and hard work ethic!

Our snorkel tour with Gerardo and Nestor was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. With three different stops in pristine, crystal-clear waters, each location offered something special. We were thrilled to see a couple of sea turtles, nurse sharks, vibrant tropical fish, starfish, and even numerous manta rays gracefully swimming among us — truly unforgettable moments. Lunch was a highlight as well: fresh seafood ceviche, delicious tuna sandwiches, and refreshing drinks served onboard. The boat ride was very comfortable, and the captain and crew were attentive, professional, and made us feel completely at ease. This experience is a definite must-do when staying at the Explorean All Inclusive Resort!
