Barceló Maya Riviera - All Inclusive Adults Only

We loved everything about the property. Easily walkable and so beautifully thought out. All the staff were very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The pool was a nice enough temperature to cool you down but not freezing, and it was so expansive there was room for everyone. It was nice to see them cleaning the pool throughout the day to keep it as fresh as possible. The beach was absolutely perfect for the majority of our stay but the sargassum did take over for a few of the days, even with the staffs very best efforts to maintain it. This really didn’t affect us at all, we just stayed at the pool and enjoyed the music and entertainment. Our room was carefully presented, clean, and had everything we could possibly need.

Just to start it off, this was my first all inclusive hotel experience aside from a Cruise ship. This was a trip for our honeymoon so we chose the adults only property. Didn't want the kids running around. The food was the only thing that we had an issue with at the property. I understand that buffets are not always perfect but for an adults only area I thought it would be different and taste better. Not to sound too harsh but my wife and I honestly dreaded breakfast and lunch everyday because of the quality of food. Might've actually lost a little weight on this trip due to lack of wanting to eat. We did go to the other hotels and tried there food as well and it wasn't much better. Presentation was better but the taste was the same to us. I wanted some good fresh Mexican food here and just never got it. Our dinners were great. Ate at 3 of the 4 restaurants the property. Decided against French option only because we wanted to try others more than this one. SAPPORO is one I Highly recommend because of the show and quality of food. DELICIOUS. AGAVE - Very good food, My wife and I loved the Taco Bar over table service. DOLCE VITA - We love Italian food but not this place. Not great. One of the best perks to this hotel is access to the other properties and with that we chose to try MARENOSTRUM, KYOTO and SANTE FE Steakhouse. SANTE FE - skeptical of this one but it was actually one of favorites. My wife had a Ribeye and i had a New York steak, somewhat salty for both of them but still very good. KYOTO - very similar to Sapporo but the show was a little better. MARENOSTRUM - This place was good but it wasn't great. Wife had grouper since lobster was out of season and I had Lamb (too picky of a seafood eater to try). Grew up in Alaska where seafood is SUPERB. Hope my rambling wasn't to redundant and helps a little with your choices since you have so many options to pick from and so little time to try. STAFF - Sensational. Learn basic Spanish to help with language barrier, highly recommended. Mixed drinks were not consistent when ordering at bars. Example, ordering double shots sometimes got confused with 2 drinks. ROOM - We did governors suite (my jaw dropped when I walked in) and premium level. Big groups, one person needs this room to help host people all in one place. Not needed for just one couple though unless you need to flex. PREMIUM - not fully worth the up charge in my opinion. I drank Jameson instead of whatever rail whisky they had. Private buffet was empty almost the entire week we were here so that was nice. POOL BAR - We spent most of our time here and loved it. Got the same chair the whole week. Big benefit to the adults only property. We loved the music side over the quiet. POOL - Never overly crowded and offered lots of activities. Maybe needs to be cleaned more frequent. BEACH - seemed like sand over cement but very clean and not over crowded. Sargassum was very present this time frame. Bring water shoes since it is quite rocky. Excursions - DO the sunset sailing catamaran excursion. So Fun. RESORT - Spotless in every aspect, so clean for how big of a property it was. The bus that takes you around is very helpful. Very walkable property but if you're tired or maybe a little older the bus was very nice to have. Waters are available at every establishment. Personnal note to everyone. I'm the furthest thing from a doctor BUT KEEP APPLYING SUNSCREEN EVERY HOUR. Sun was intense and saw way to many people getting fried. Onto the resort as a whole. I loved this property and would definitely come back in the future. As a foodie it sucks but as a whole it really met all of our expectations.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Miramar Buffet thanks to Madai Aguilar and Martin Cituk! From the moment we arrived, they were both so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us, always checking in with a smile and making us feel so welcomed. The service was outstanding, and their positive energy truly made our visit memorable. It’s rare to come across people who care this much about their guests, and it really shows. Thank you, Madai and Martin, for making our experience so special!

Amazing dining experience at the Agave restaurant. This restaurant allows you to choose from taco bar or restaurant style dining. Highly recommend the taco bar experience! All you can eat tacos with amazing service. Yeah, we have the pleasure of being served by Elena,Carlos and Hermelindo. The two chefs preparing the tacos in front of you were fantastic! Thank you to chef Conchita and Chef Gabriel.

Finally after 13 stays at the Barcelo maya complexe (we’ve stayed at all 5) we got the opportunity to stay at the Riviera adults only. It was all that we expected and more. Our dining experiences at all 4 restaurants were of high quality with enough choices to suit everyone’s palate. The service was very professional and were of high standard. We ate at all four à la cartes with our favourite being La Comédie (the French restaurant). Josefina (the m’aitre d’) is doing an outstanding job. The breakfast and lunch offerings in the buffet has the widest variety of choices we have ever seen in a buffet restaurant. There was absolutely everything one could possibly desire, and with a very high degree of quality. The room was beautiful with an extra large king bed and a jacuzzi on each balcony. There was no shortage of towels. The hotel public areas were clean and well maintained. We encountered no issues the entire week we were there. We will definitely be back! The beach is lovely, though parts can be rocky, so water shoes may be helpful. The water is clear, warm, and ideal for casual swimming or relaxing by the shore. Service Service throughout the resort is consistently warm and attentive. Staff are friendly without being intrusive, and most interactions feel genuine. Check‑in and check‑out are efficient, and service in restaurants is generally quick and well organised. Spa & Activities The on‑site spa is excellent, offering high‑quality treatments in a tranquil environment. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the gym facilities, and there are plenty of optional activities such as snorkelling, tennis, and live evening entertainment shared with the wider Barcelo complex. Overall Verdict Barcelo Maya Riviera is a superb adults‑only resort offering luxury, serenity, and excellent value. We have been to Barcelo Maya Riviera multiple times and have found this resort to be an exceptional value. Our latest trip included a reunion with my wife’s sister, who we haven’t seen in 25 years. This was her first trip out of Russia. The room was very clean and housekeeping did an excellent job of providing extra towels and keeping the room spotless. Every request for additional soap and beverages was fulfilled promptly. The buffet at breakfast and noon was above average and the choices were way more than adequate. Eggs cooked your way, plenty of sausage and bacon, even gluten free and vegan areas, immense number of fruit and fresh juice. Lunch buffet had rib roast one day, pork roast another and everyday burgers, fish, steaks cooked to your specs plus the usual trays of every imaginable choice. We also ate every evening meal at the à la carte restaurants on site. Favorite was the Italian followed by Mexican, French and Japanese. We had no issue making our reservations at close to our time of choice. The drinks were all good and plentiful. We are beach enthusiasts and had no issue of people hogging and saving chairs. Plenty of the recliners throughout the beach area. There is almost a kilometer beach available going towards Barcelo Palace. Lots of fish and amazingly several turtles that will eat bananas. Some rocky areas but mostly clean and raked sand. Every staff member we encountered appeared to be enthusiastic and happy to be a Barcelo employee. Also, there were plenty of activities to keep busy and entertained each day. The nightly lobby shows were fun and enthusiastic. All in all, a very pleasant and enjoyable 10 days. Well worth the expense and we will be back again in June or July. The only negative we found was that no smoking areas were not enforced. Mexican law does not allow smoking in beach areas but this was ignored.

Travelled with husband and two adult children the week before Christmas. We have stayed at this Barcelo in the Palace section (this is our 8th stay), but this was our first time at the Adults only. We were very pleased with the property, everything was lovely, clean and well kept. We did find the overall vibe a bit "sterile" compared to the other bit of the resort, but overall do like the modern look. The resort was very busy, but we still easily got beach chairs daily. We walked down to the Palace end for snorkelling, as there is not good snorkelling off the beach at the adult's only. We were impressed by the meals we had at the a la cartes and the buffet food was great. The staff at the a la carte were fantastic, and I really enjoyed Janet at La Dolce Vita-thank you! We did find that the buffet seating area was extremely noisy, and the service some days was poor-food however, was great. As experienced previously, the house wine is awful--we don't drink during the day, and just wish that we could get a couple of good glasses of wine with our meal as we don't get the "value" of our alcohol portion of the all inclusive! At the very least, I would love to see a corkage option, as we would bring our own wine. (the pricing of wine to purchase is unreasonable). Overall very happy with the vacation. The property is beautiful and we love doing sunrise walks, playing pickleball and paddle, snorkelling, lounging on the beach and eating like kings. We would choose this resort again.

This is a beautiful spot for adults only. The 4 pools are huge, with plenty of room to float around. You can always find something good to eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. For dinner you can go anywhere on the Barceló property with a reservation. We come back every year because we love it here so much! Ask for Martine at breakfast, he’s a wonderful server and a really nice guy.

I’m a club member staying here from October 21-November 11. So far my best experience and as always is from Alberto from the buffet at AO . He’s the best.. best customer service ever. He’s always so attentive. He gets me smoked salmon with capers cause he knows I love them. So far no greeting for my birthday or anything from the club but he even made sure his fellow staff members wished me happy birthday cause he was off on his birthday same as mine. I can’t say enough good things about him. We’ve been coming here for a few years snd it’s sooo nice to see his friendly face. He really is good at his job. Taco bar staff as well Javier, the main attendant there plus all the others working sang happy birthday and made it special for me. Thanks Barcelo .. make sure these people know how much I appreciate them.
