We just spent five incredible days at the resort!! I can't say enough positive things about the beautiful room, the fabulous pools, the unique experience snorkeling at King's Pond, the amazing food at all of the restaurants, etc.  - the property is absolutely incredible, BUT it's the service team that truly makes this resort magical!  I communicated with the concierge team prior to arrival. Their responses were swift and thorough. They exceeded all of my expectations. I highly recommend booking excursions through the concierge team (there is no upcharge). I researched excursions and hikes prior to our trip, but in the end, I decided to rely on the Four Seasons team, and I am so thankful I did. Our hikes were amazing, and the night snorkel with the manta rays was one of the best experiences of my life. The helicopter tour of the island that the team planned was perfect. The team helped me with restaurant reservations before and after checking in. Their advice and attention was above and beyond what I have experienced at other Four Seasons resorts or other 5-star resorts. This resort team nailed it!! I'd like to give a big shout out to Jalen (truly amazing from booking to check out!! His team helped me with dietary issues in ways that other hotels have not, his team responded to every request and was SO helpful)  and Iwalani (she helped with excursions and so many other details to make the trip special). When we ran into some difficulties with noise from corporate parties near our room, they addressed the issue fully, and I could tell they truly cared about our experience. Juan David also was present and let us know that he cared about our experience and was committed to making the resort the best possible Four Seasons experience.  Before I booked our trip, I considered the Rosemont property next door. I spent time on that property because I am a runner and was able to run through the property and explore its offerings. I am so thankful we chose the Four Seasons. In my opinion, the Four Seasons property is in a league of its own on the island. Rosemont is very spread out. Most people needed bikes to travel from the bungalow to the pools and beach. The beach area wasn't as pretty. The Four Seasons has several great beach areas. We saw lots of sea turtles, and we were able to enjoy the waters. It has a gorgeous beach walk that I could run. We also had dinner at Canoe House because the reviews were great. It was a wonderful experience, but the restaurants at the Four Seasons were similarly priced, and we enjoyed the food more without having to leave the property.    My only feedback to the Four Seasons is to alert guests if there are corporate parties or events that might impact their stays so that guests can adjust their room location preference according to their needs. I gave this feedback on sight to Jalen, and he was AMAZINGLY receptive.  I also highly recommend Kona in January!! The whales were everywhere! We had a fabulous experience and can't wait to go back!!

We’ve stayed at numerous Four Seasons resorts across the world and we’ve always experienced utmost quality and luxury. Sadly that wasn’t the case at the Four Seasons Hualalai. The resort is incredibly dated and in need of a major facelift. The spa room where I had my massage looked like my drs office and our room looked like it was built in the 80s and hadn’t been touched since. The aircon vent was peeling off the stained wall, we couldn’t turn on the air fan as it made an annoying clicking noise, and the couch outside felt like it was made of stone. When comparing the rooms to our last Four Seasons experiences (Los Cabos), the difference is stark. It’s also incredibly busy. The person who checked us in told us he’d make us dinner reservations and asked our preferred time (we said 6:30pm). An hour later we got a text telling us all our reservations were booked for 7:30pm. We asked if we could move them earlier but all but one restaurant was already fully booked at 6:30pm. The breakfast experience felt more like a cheap Cancun all-inclusive than a 5 star luxury resort. You put your name in. You wait for 10 mins before you’re seated. You then have wade through the busy crowd and swat away the plentiful flies for a buffet no better than what you’d find at a holiday inn. We had two major “incidents”: We were served raw chicken at the pop-up sushi restaurant on our third night. We ordered a chicken skewer that took ages to come. After about 30 mins we asked our server to cancel it and requested the check. He told us not to worry and it would be out in 2 mins. They clearly tried to rush the dish as two mins later we got a plain piece of chicken with no garnish or the sauce described on the menu. When we cut into it, it was completely raw (pink and cool to the touch). We flagged to the server and he immediately told us not to eat it. The spa experience was also horrendous. After checking in going into the spa, there were 5 construction workers in there working on the shower. The indoor showers were closed because of this, so you had to shower outdoors next to the workman’s tools and empty Coke cans. My massage was constantly interrupted by the workmen talking / sawing. Construction aside, the spa was small and very dated. I will say that we addressed both issues with management and they did credit us for the meal and spa treatment which we very much appreciated. You still wouldn’t expect either at a resort charging almost $2,000 per night. The Executive Chef also made an effort to check with us regularly after those incidents. He seems like a very nice and highly competent chef. Raw chicken and breakfast aside, the food was generally good. I thought Miller & Lux was absolutely outstanding. We went twice and both times we were incredibly expressed by both the food, atmosphere and service. The famous Caesar salad lived up to the hype and the steak tartar was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I’m sure we experienced this resort on an “off few days”, but the four day stay cost over $10,000 and it wasn’t even close to being worth the price tag. We spent the first four nights of our trip at Kona Village next door. Despite some service kinks, that was much closer to a 5-star experience.

We returned to Hawaii after 35 years for our wedding anniversary and my husband’s 60th birthday. The Four Seasons Hualalai was worth the wait!! Just an amazing resort!! So relaxing. Our room was fabulous! They surprised us with a room upgrade, champagne and a personalized mouse cake. We had the privilege of playing their golf course twice. Early morning coffee in the lobby was fabulous for those of us with jet lag. The breakfast buffet by the ocean was delicious and had so many offerings. Every dinner was better than the last. The staff was friendly and everyone went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. I hope we can come back again. Thank you so much for a memorable stay.

Four Seasons Hualalai is an idyllic place to enjoy perfect weather, beautiful scenery and excellent service. This was our third visit and it did not disappoint. The room categories can be a bit confusing online, so it's best to call and speak with a reservations agent. We were flexible on timing, and she worked with us to identify a room that met our preferences and a timeframe that worked. Service is top notch from the moment you arrive, and are seated comfortably in the lobby with some refreshments while they check you in, then whisked to your room via golf cart. Every staff person you encounter walking around the property greets you with an aloha. The rooms are very spacious and well-appointed, with a large lanai or patio. We did have a couple of technical issues with the hot water and one channel on the TV, but they were very responsive in working on them, and comped our dinner one evening as an apology. There are four different pools, each with their own vibe and lunch menu. One is an adult pool with swim-up bar, one is a quiet pool, one is for families/kids, and then there is King's Pond, where you can snorkel with fish and the resident manta ray, or enjoy the infinity pool. There are also lounges along the beach. The beach is fairly rocky, not the best for swimming (though there is one area protected by a breakwater), bring water shoes if you have them. There are little "surprise and delight" moments throughout the day where they bring treats (frozen grapes, popsicles, etc) or offer to clean your sunglasses, and there are sunscreen dispensers at each pool. There's a surf shack where you can get ice cream and shave ice. There's also a little general store on the property where you can get snacks, souvenirs, and some breakfast/lunch items, as well as gas. There's a spa, gym, and golf course. Of the four restaurants, one is currently closed for remodeling, but instead they have put a pop-up restaurant outside next to King's Pond, which is lovely. We did go to dinner next door at Kona Village Resort for a change, but I think the food is better at Four Seasons. Reservations are essential, so it's best to plan a few days ahead, and have something booked for the first few nights before you arrive.

Check in was quick and efficient. Room was well maintained and clean with good amenities. The gym was brilliant, one of the best ones I’ve come across in a hotel. Although the gym facilities were brilliant, the area itself could have been maintained better as often you’d find rubbish on the floor from previous days or users. The trading company coffee shop/store was great, wide range of selection from fresh smoothies/coffees to cakes, to toiletries and souvenirs. We really enjoyed this place and was a daily visitor. Breakfast was quite busy at peak times and although tables were available you still had to wait 5-10 mins on arrival before being seated. Selection of food was average, could have been improved with more healthier options and leaving smoked salmon or cured meats into the open air wasn’t exactly what I would feel is very hygienic. The restaurants were okay, but 3 of them were very much similar and offered the same just in different areas of the resort. Overall we enjoyed this hotel, yes we would return should we be in transit to another location but wouldn’t make a bee line to return to this resort alone. Various areas of the hotel are looking tired (toilets near the tennis courts and toilets near Kings Pond) but all in all we had a pleasant time.

The new restaurant Miller & Lux is a cut above. The ongoing “welcome back” theme was nice. Our previous stay was immediately post-pandemic, and the whole island, including the 4S was a bit … rough. Everything is back the way it should be. The only thing that would be an improvement would be fewer children, which I understand would be less than favorable for business. ;) Everyone’s experience is different I suppose. I can only surmise that a recent less-than-stellar review was left by the folks making the most vocal, attention-craving complaints at the restaurants and pool during our visit. Not surprising.
