Sandals Resort Name Changes: What Couples Need to Know

Sandals has updated the names of many of its resorts so the destination comes first. The resorts, beaches, all-inclusive inclusions, and locations have not changed—only the branding has, to make it clearer where you’re headed. Official resort pages now note the former names, and the old web addresses generally still work.

This applies across Jamaica, the Bahamas, Antigua, St. Lucia, Curaçao, and St. Vincent. Some Jamaica properties are also completing major rebuilds and have confirmed reopening dates.

Jamaica Name Updates and Reopening Dates

Three Jamaica resorts closed after Hurricane Melissa and are returning under the Sandals 2.0 / Great Jamaica Comeback program with a $200 million investment. They are open for bookings now for stays on or after their reopening dates:

  • Sandals Jamaica South Coast (formerly Sandals Jamaica South Coast) — reopens November 18, 2026. Updates include a new signature pool, open-air lobby, and new dining concepts. It sits near a large nature preserve and offers overwater bungalows.
  • Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay (formerly Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay) — reopens December 18, 2026. The flagship property is getting a redesigned pool, refreshed spaces, and new dining while keeping its large private beach and close airport access.
  • Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean) — reopens December 18, 2026. The new name highlights its private offshore island (Sandals Cay). It is adding rooms (including SkyPool and swim-up options), new restaurants such as Suppa, and Parisol Beach Club on the island. The private island remains a core feature, reached by boat.

Other Jamaica resorts have also adopted the destination-first format and are operating:

  • Sandals Jamaica Ocho Rios (formerly Sandals Ochi)
  • Sandals Jamaica Dunns River (formerly Sandals Jamaica Dunn’s River)
  • Sandals Jamaica Negril (formerly Sandals Jamaica Negril)
  • Sandals Jamaica Royal Plantation (formerly Sandals Jamaica Royal Plantation)

Name Updates in Other Destinations

These resorts have the same properties and experiences under clearer names:

The Bahamas
Sandals Bahamas Nassau (formerly Sandals Royal Bahamian)

Antigua
Sandals Antigua (formerly Sandals Grande Antigua)

Curaçao
Sandals Curaçao (formerly Sandals Royal Curaçao)

St. Lucia

  • Sandals St. Lucia Grand Bay (formerly Sandals Grande St. Lucian)
  • Sandals St. Lucia La Toc (formerly Sandals Regency La Toc)
  • Sandals St. Lucia Halcyon Beach (formerly Sandals St. Lucia Halcyon Beach)

St. Vincent
Sandals St. Vincent (formerly Sandals St. Vincent & the Grenadines)

Beaches properties in Jamaica have followed a similar pattern (for example, Beaches Jamaica Negril).

What This Means for Your Trip

The all-inclusive experience—unlimited dining and drinks, water sports, scuba for certified divers, airport transfers, taxes, and gratuities—remains the same. Butler service, suite categories, and exchange programs (such as Stay at 1, Play at 3 in St. Lucia) are unchanged.

If you already have a booking under an old name, it should still be valid for the same resort. Check with Sandals or your advisor if your reservation was affected by a Jamaica closure; the company has indicated it is assisting guests with rebooking options.

Official pages list the former name clearly (for example, “Formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean” on the Caribbean Cay page), which helps when comparing reviews or older trip reports. When searching or booking, use the new destination-first name for the most current information and rates.

For the three Jamaica resorts reopening in November and December 2026, book early if you want specific room categories or peak-season dates, as these are popular honeymoon and couples destinations returning with refreshed pools, dining, and rooms.

In short, the resorts you know are still there—just with names that put the island first and, in a few Jamaica cases, with substantial upgrades timed to their late-2026 reopenings.
