Hurawalhi Island Resort

My husband and I visited Hurawalhi island with our two teenaged sons in July 2026. Upon arrival at Velana International airport in Male, we were made to feel comfortable and taken care of. Luggage, and transfers including, taxi to the sea plane terminals, the Hurawalhi lounge, the sea plane itself and the speed boat to the island all arranged. There was no waiting around and no time wasted, everything moved smoothly and seamlessly. We met our wonderful host, Afrah on the speed boat and he took care of all of our needs during our stay..any questions we had, requests for restaurants reservations, sports activity bookings etc. Afrah was very professional and knowledgeable at all times. Our 10 day stay on the island was amazing. We spent most our time snorkelling (amazing and so much to see), enjoying the pool - including our own private pool, eating and drinking (so much quality delicious food and drink). The boys also enjoyed the games room, playing padel, tennis and football. The hospitality at this resort is what made our stay so special. Each and every member staff that we encountered, had a smile on their face and greeted us warmly. We became very fond of certain members of staff. Our favourite chef, Murughan. Such a kind hearted gentleman. Whose cooking was made with heart and soul, he made sure we enjoyed what was on offer every day and made us feel like family members. Nimesh, wonderfully creative and attentive bartender. Amazing drinks and always made sure we had a tasty beverage to hand. So many members of staff made our stay incredible, Afrah, our host. Also Farrey, Manoj, Salaam, Suresh in the Canneli Restaurant. Also Rohan, Tulsa, Sahan, Sajil and Manish in the coco bar. Managers, Cashmir, Lalith and of course Bahauddeen. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We can’t wait to see you all again. If you’re thinking about visiting Hurawalhi island, go ahead and book. It’s island perfection.

We stayed here for two weeks. We truly appreciate the entire team, from start to finish. The food was excellent! I would like to make special mention of: Fazeel, Dinara, Ali, Casmir, and the (chef) cook who prepared soup for my lunch.:-) Manoj, our friendly sommelier—what a wine/champagne knowledge he has. One word to describe Hurawalhi is “quality” Everything about this resort is pure quality. It’s exclusive and refined. A peaceful & romantic adults only island. Beautiful island. Maldivian style and classy. The house reef is very good and easily accessible from the beach, A mix of everything, fish soup and regularly see turtles, reef sharks & rays also. I even saw an octopus! 🐙 The food is excellent across the main 3 restaurants Kashibo, Canneli & JFK and 5.8 underwater restaurant, whilst very expensive is a fabulous experience and a must do if only once. Coco bar, Canneli & JFK restaurant all sit around the pool area and I have to say it’s the most beautiful setting and arrangement. Evening wise you have tasteful solo and duo live music which is enjoyable. DJ nights which are great too as they played 80s and 90s hits not the usual “duff duff duff” stuff! A lovely bar area which we sat at most evenings playing chess and drinking way too many gin & tonics! The villas are beautiful and spacious. We stayed in an ocean villa with pool on the even number side. Beautiful, although i would recommend the odd number side more as they look out on love island (their exclusive beach for special events) and less islands in sight on the horizon. The service is exceptional from ALL staff. Special thanks however to those who mostly looked after us goes to: Azid, Salaam, Azaam, Tulsa, Rohan, Saham, Afrah. Not forgetting managers, Lalith (F&B) & Casmir (bar) Thank you for your regular check ins and praise to you both for managing an exceptional team of staff 👏 The only recommendation of review to management would be to include some of the activities & experiences such as cocktail making, beach bbq, and the champagne bar to all inclusive guests. Many other islands we have been to would include without extra charge. We have been to 9 different islands and never return to the same island because we enjoy the surprise of a new one. I have a feeling though we may return to Hurawalhi one year 😉 I can honestly say if you’re looking for something beautiful, refined, romantic & relaxing I don’t think you could find anything better. We stayed at Hurawalhi Island Resort from 19–28 June and had an unforgettable holiday. The island is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully maintained — a true slice of paradise. Our holiday was nothing short of exceptional — a truly special island escape that will stay in our memories forever. From the moment we arrived at the jetty to the moment we departed, we felt cared for, supported, and completely at ease. We never had to worry about anything. Outstanding Staff & Service: the greatest highlight of our stay was the remarkable staff, whose warmth and professionalism made every day feel effortless. Elio, our dedicated host, was an absolute star. Always available, always attentive, and always proactive, she ensured our stay was as comfortable and personalised as possible. Any question or request — from clarifying details to arranging buggies at short notice — was handled quickly and with genuine care. Her efficiency impressed us throughout. At Canneli Restaurant, we enjoyed every single meal. The welcome was always warm, and the service consistently excellent. Adam, who looked after us during most of our visits, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. His professionalism, attention to detail, and people skills made such an impression that we genuinely missed him on the days he wasn’t working. Another joy at Canneli was being greeted by the ever smiling Ruwindi, whose cheerful welcome was the perfect start to every meal. We also want to thank managers Lalith and Casmir, who checked in with us daily to ensure everything was perfect. Their guidance, explanations, and genuine interest in our experience made us feel completely supported. Casmir’s bar team at Coco Bar were equally impressive — knowledgeable, friendly, and consistently quick to serve us whether we were relaxing by the pool or enjoying a drink in the bar. Although we didn’t see much of our villa attendant Sinan, his work spoke for itself. Our water villa was always immaculate, beautifully maintained, and cared for with great attention to detail. A special mention must also go to Mel and Shainea, the resident Marine Biologists. Their weekly talks on sharks, turtles and rays were fascinating and gave us a deeper appreciation of the incredible marine life surrounding the island. Snorkelling with Mel was a highlight of our trip — her expertise, enthusiasm, and calm professionalism made every excursion enjoyable and safe. Whether on snorkel tour, a wildlife walk, or boat trip, Mel was always engaging and generous with her knowledge. The island is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. Our water villa was superb — spacious, luxurious, and perched over the breath taking Indian Ocean. Waking up to turquoise water and ending each day with wonderful views from our deck was unforgettable. Across the resort, facilities were kept to an exceptionally high standard. The infinity pool, beaches, and public areas were pristine. The only minor exception was a few small issues in the games room, which we have already fed back to the resort team — and we are confident they will be addressed promptly. The food and beverage offering at Hurawalhi is outstanding. We never tired of the options: • Canneli Restaurant – constantly refreshed menus, excellent variety, and consistently tasty dishes. • Kashibo Restaurant – high end Asian cuisine with well-presented plates and exquisite flavours. • JFK Restaurant – quality fast food alternative when we wanted something more casual. Every meal felt thoughtfully prepared, and service was always warm and friendly. The combination of stunning natural beauty, exceptional staff, luxurious accommodation, and world class facilities made this holiday truly unforgettable. Hurawalhi Island Resort is a place where you feel genuinely cared for, and where every detail is designed to make your stay special. We had an amazing honeymoon at Hurawalhi! Dinara was our island host and she was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond and made sure that we had everything we needed and wanted. The entire experience at this resort is a once in a lifetime place. Everyone gets to know you and makes sure you are well taken care of. We cant recommend this resort and Dinara enough!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this beautiful island. The adults only concept makes for a relaxing, serene atmosphere, and the island itself is very well maintained in every area. The reef is easily accessible, and we encountered reef shark, rays and turtles on a regular basis. Our room was pleasant and always kept pristine by Ahmed. The bed was very comfortable. The mini bar was regularly stocked with good quality wines and spirits. We felt privileged every day to be looked after by such amazing members of staff. The service was always superb. The all inclusive wine list is extensive and we enjoyed many a glass..thank you Harry for your suggestions, and for keeping us topped up. All of the drinks offerings were top quality and nicely presented..thank you Casmir for your kind attention, and Manish, Sahann and Rohan in Coco bar. The bar itself is a lovely place to sit and look out onto the ocean sipping a cocktail or a coffee. However, I do feel that the constant music during the daytime is unnecessary and spoils the serenity somewhat. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was a faint background sound. I did request for it to be turned down a couple of times which was obliged. The food in JFK was very good, however, because the lunch time buffet was unavailable, it became very busy during this period. It didn’t help that on a couple of occasions large groups of visiting travel agents took over quite a big area in the restaurant . We ate mostly in Kashibo in the evenings due to the fact that the buffet in Cannelli was only open 2 nights a week (due to low occupancy) which was a huge disappointment to us because this was one of our main reasons for visiting this island, we had heard so much about how amazing it was. There was a limited à la carte menu available for both lunch and dinner, but our experience of this was not good. Both the lamb and the duck were tough, and the scallops stringy. No tenderloin or king prawns which are available on other less prestigious islands. The breakfast buffet, as well as the seafood and Maldivian buffet were superb. Thank you Iyaan for pointing out the dolphins swimming past at breakfast, and Adam and Ruwindi for looking after us too. Kashibo food was very good, and sitting over the ocean during dinner was a real treat. Every staff member was very attentive and we enjoyed every meal. We did do some diving and the whole dive team were professional and engaging. Thank you Fabrizio, Robyn and Kazeem as well as all the boat guys. The entertainment was pretty laid back, which was fine for us. The Maldivian dance evening was brilliant, and AJ the DJ was great. Thank you too to Elio who was a fantastic host. We have been to many other resort islands, and Hurawalhi is definitely one of our favourites. We have already booked for next year.

We have recently returned from Hurawalhi, our 12th visit to the Maldives and our 17th resort. First what we loved We really loved the aesthetic of the resort. Pretty restaurants with lovely views and everything was extremely clean and well kept. The interior is lush and veey pretty, it is constantly being cleaned and cared for by the beautiful staff. Our room, an over water villa was lovely, very spacious with everything that you needed and beautiful views. Possibly one of our favourites. The staff were amazing, extremely friendly and helpful and very attentive in all aspects. A real credit to the resort. The reef was fishy, not much live coral, but that is a problem all over the Maldives unfortunately since the coral bleaching, but certainly enough to keep you busy . Pretty easy to access and plenty of colourful fish, sharks, Rays and Turtles. Pool area Really beautiful spot, with comfy loungers and excellent service. We spent a lot of time there as I struggled to keep walking back to our villa. 5.8 underwater restaurant A wonderful experience that if you can afford it, it's worth it to be immersed in this beautiful underwater world. Food and service was excellent. Staff All staff were amazing, so attentive and they work so hard, but still always happy and smiling. Really lovely to chat with and get to know. I am sorry I don't remember all their names but Suhail our lovely waiter, Elio our host and Palaka at the bar, you made our holiday. Now the not so great When we arrived we realised work was actively going on on the water villas. It was extremely loud and not what you want to see when walking along the jetty. We were celebrating a special anniversary and to be honest if they had been up front and informed us of the ongoing renovations we probably would have changed resorts as we visit the Maldives for the tranquillity. It also meant that our villa was quite a long way from the island ( so we couldn't hear the noise) but I prefer and did request a villa close to shore as I suffer a lot of pain when walking. Food. This unfortunately was hit and miss. Some meals were fantastic others pretty disappointing, one Lamb rump I couldn't even eat.I felt in comparison to other islands we have stayed, Hurawalhi's Food was below par with exception to 5.8. A shame as we don't eat a lot but love really good quality food and it just missed the mark, no tenderloin steaks available unless you pay extra, again just something we have never found at other islands of this calibre. Around the swimming pool they play music all day. At first we thought it was because of the noise from the water villa Reno's and they were trying to hide it, as you could still here the noise at the pool. But apparently not. Very personal, but we prefer to just here the waves. Hurawalhi could be near perfect if they upgrade food and please please let visitors know prior if there is renovation work going on were they are staying as this really does impact the total feel of a holiday that should be perfect, especially when spending so much money. Although very disappointed initially about the renovations noise, we made the most of it and tried to ignore that part of our stay. Thank you again to all the staff 🙏

Myself and my Husband have had a wonderful time! The staff are so lovely, we would like to pay a particular shout out to Zayan, for taking care of us, Suhail for taking us snorkelling and looking after us at breakfast and dinner, and finally Guwindi, for her bubbly welcomes! We would also like to pay our compliments to all the Chefs as the food was fantastic!! Overall you have made our honeymoon so special and we are so thankful!!

Hurawahli has to be one of the most beautiful islands I have ever had the pleasure to visit. This island adults only island is perfect in every way. Firstly the rooms are a cocoon of luxury - everything is beautifully designed to make sure your stay is comfortable and unforgettable. I loved the little touches like after sun lotion, insect repellent, hydrating face mist supplied in the room, as well as every night at turndown - a bedtime story card to end off your island night. The island is natural and lush and well maintained so it always looks just perfect. There is enough to do on the island for the adventurous types, padel, gym, snorkeling etc and for others that like to just relax, there are plenty quiet places that allow that - the spa, around the stunning infinity pool overlooking the oceanic in your private villa. I loved sunrise yoga which was a great way to start the day. Dining at Hurawahli is definitely a highlight.. the food is exceptional all round. They also have the 5.8 underwater restaurant which I was lucky enough to visit and hopefully one day be able to dine there for a special occasion. Every staff member goes above and beyond to make sure you have the absolute best experience. I highly recommend Hurawahli and look forward ti returning in the near future.

Our stay at Hurawalhi was a truly wonderful experience. Outstanding location and resort, a wonderful team on site, great food as well as a fantastic water villa with lovely snorkeling opportunities. We will cut our feedback short: would we recommend this trip to Hurawalhi to our best friend ? The answer is a definite YES ... which is presumably one of the best evaluations one could provide. Keep up the great service at this wonderful resort & all the best for what is to come !

We had a wonderful time at Hurawalhi, we booked via Kuoni as they had highly recommended it for couples looking for adult-only places with really good snorkelling. It was for my husbands 40th birthday so we wanted somewhere really special. The seaplane from Male to the resort took 40 mins (keep a little hand held fan on you as it can get very hot inside), followed by a 10 min speedboat. Our hostess was called Noza & she was brilliant, she set up a what’s app group chat with us so that anything we needed she was available to help. If you are looking for somewhere that prides itself on providing a meticulous level of detail to every aspect of your stay, then this is the place to go. Everything is very well considered, and it’s the little extra details that make you feel very welcome there from the moment you arrive. We stayed in an ocean villa (room 221 - perfect for snorkelling, we had rays, turtles & black tip sharks swim right past us here). It was a 5 min walk to the restaurants, we booked all inclusive plus which I’d highly recommend if you fancy a few drinks! The cocktail & drinks list is extensive, and you can dine at Canelli, Kashibo, or JFK (there are some items not included on the all-inc package but everything is such high quality you won’t be missing out). We booked the 5.8 restaurant on my husbands 40th and went for the 7 course wine paring option. Honestly the most amazing meal we’ve ever had (this isn’t included in all inc). We also had a sunset dolphin cruise and group snorkelling session with the resident marine biologist included in our package. Both were fantastic experiences. Try to book the snorkelling as soon as you arrive as it’s really useful finding out from the start which are the best areas to swim around (plus you’ll find out about the local marine life & be able to recognise them). The staff are exceptional. They go above and beyond to help you have the best time there. I’m afraid I didn’t catch everyone’s name so can’t list them all but thank you so much to Noza, Madeeh, Suzen, Tushar & all the wonderful staff at Kashibo, Coco, Canelli, JFK & 5.8. We had the best time thanks to you making us feel so welcome.

Hurawalhi Island Resort impresses with its beautiful natural setting, an incredibly vibrant house reef, and high-end dining. However, it falls short in terms of flexibility and genuine hospitality. Additionally, the resort operates under an adults-only policy, which we ultimately did not enjoy as much as expected, as it contributed to a somewhat sterile and artificial atmosphere. Another major drawback was the constant focus on upselling and extra charges. At this price point, guests should not be left with the feeling of being "nickeled and dimed." We stayed in an Ocean Villa (overwater without a pool). The villas are well-maintained but starting to show their age with minor scratches. Direct ocean access from the terrace was far from ideal due to a strong current, shallow water, and sharp coral underneath, making a direct jump into the water impossible. While housekeeping occasionally missed minor details, the maintenance team was excellent and fixed minor issues immediately. As vegetarians, we were quite disappointed by the lack of culinary flexibility. Despite informing the resort beforehand, options became repetitive very quickly. The lunch and dinner menus in the main restaurant were identical, offering only three vegetarian mains (mostly Indian curries), and the veggie burger at JFK was already sold out on day one. We constantly had to proactively ask for alternatives. On a positive note, the breakfast was an absolute highlight with everything made to order, and the "5.8" Undersea Restaurant offers a fantastic experience, despite a hefty surcharge ($250+ USD per person). Overall, the gastronomy is excellent, but I would have preferred less gold leaf and more everyday flexibility. Service showed two sides: while the restaurant staff and waiters were incredibly heartfelt and welcoming, management felt mechanical and revenue-driven. Requesting an upgrade to a pool villa was highly overpriced ($300 USD/night), and the "complimentary" photo shoot turned out to be a sales pitch for a $250 package. Furthermore, charging a flat $95 USD per hour for a late check-out before our grueling 30-hour journey home felt inappropriate for this hotel category (it was only extended to 1 PM for free after a complaint). The absolute highlight of the resort is the phenomenal house reef, where we saw sharks, rays, and turtles daily. Huge compliments also to the management for letting the seagrass grow to protect the marine ecosystem—a great environmental choice. In conclusion, while the resort is good, it lacks the generous, seamless feel of true luxury. We would not book it again, as there are definitely better options available in the Maldives, even for the same price.

I recently stayed at Hurawalhi Island Resort for my honeymoon, and overall it was a wonderful experience. One of the biggest reasons Hurawalhi stands out as a honeymoon destination is its adults-only concept (16+). The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, with no noise from young children, making it ideal for couples seeking privacy and relaxation. We visited during the off-peak season, which made the resort feel even more exclusive. Meal times were quiet, there was always plenty of space on the beach, and we could truly enjoy the beautiful sand and crystal-clear waters in peace. The resort app was also very useful. It allowed us to browse activities, view menus, check prices, and make bookings easily. Having prices clearly displayed helped us make informed decisions without worrying about unexpected charges. I would especially like to recognize our host, Dinara. Although English is not her first language, she communicated fluently and responded to our messages promptly throughout our stay. While she may not have had the most naturally warm personality, she consistently went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special by arranging thoughtful surprises and accommodations for us. We were relatively fuss-free guests who did not require much assistance, yet she still took the initiative to check in with us in person daily. Her attentiveness and thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciated her efforts. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the Reef Safari excursion. The resident marine biologist, Nico, and our snorkelling guide, Yan, made the experience exceptional. Their safety briefing was clear and comprehensive, and they remained vigilant throughout the excursion. Their ability to spot marine life was impressive—we saw hawksbill and green turtles, eagle rays, pufferfish, moray eels, and blacktip reef sharks. Beyond simply finding these creatures, they also shared fascinating information about the marine ecosystem. The boat crew were equally attentive, assisting guests with snorkelling equipment and helping everyone safely back onto the boat after each stop. We also had the opportunity to dine at the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant. The experience itself was unique and memorable. The dishes were delicate, creative, and unlike anything I would typically eat. As expected from fine dining, portions were small. While we did not see any sharks during our meal, we were fortunate enough to spot an eagle ray and several smaller fish swimming past the restaurant windows. Breakfast at Canneli was consistently enjoyable. Although the buffet selection remained largely the same each day, the quality was good. There was a wide variety of pastries, freshly cut fruits, fresh juices, and live egg stations. I would also like to specially commend two members of the Canneli team. The first is Ruwindi. We only met her on the third day of our stay, but her genuine smile and warm hospitality immediately stood out. She brought a sense of warmth to every dining experience, and I genuinely looked forward to seeing her each day. The second is Suhail, who was consistently respectful, polite, and professional. Although he was not specifically assigned to our table, he was always pleasant whenever he served water or cleared plates. His kindness felt genuine and consistent, regardless of whether there was any direct benefit to him. Another memorable moment was attending the management cocktail party, where we met Sudha from housekeeping (apologies if I have misspelled the name) and Pop from the spa team. What stood out was their sincerity. Our conversation felt natural and genuine rather than the usual hospitality small talk, and it left a lasting impression on us. There were only a couple of areas that could be improved. The Thursday Maldivian-themed dinner buffet did not quite meet our expectations. At USD120 per person, we had hoped for higher-quality sashimi and lobster. Including basic beverages such as soft drinks and juices would also have enhanced the value of the experience. Overall, Hurawalhi Island Resort is an excellent choice for couples seeking privacy, tranquillity, and a relaxing honeymoon experience. The beautiful surroundings, thoughtful staff, and memorable excursions made our stay a special one, and we left with many wonderful memories.

My daughter Alexandra and I visited Hurawalhi in late May and early June. Our eight nights at the nature reserve resort were truly unforgettable. We were very lucky with the weather, with bright sunshine most of the time. A few cloudy hours and a couple of tropical showers only added to the variety of our vacation. Huravali is a small island – 400 meters long, with a pier extending another 500 meters, flanked by ocean villas. We stayed in one of them. Our villa was wonderful, with very comfortable beds, excellent air conditioning, and a convenient shower. The villa's pool was much appreciated by my daughter, who used it to cool off in the morning and after swimming in the ocean. The villa was cleaned twice a day and was impeccable. Upon arrival, we were greeted by welcoming staff and a refreshing cocktail at the reception. Noza, our indispensable guide, accompanied us from our first steps on the island until our departure. We were charmed by her friendliness and care for every aspect of our vacation – from an electric buggy tour of all the island's locations to recommendations for restaurants and particularly good snorkeling spots. A welcome buffet with chilled Tattinger champagne and light snacks awaited us at the villa, a welcome treat we were delighted to take advantage of after our long flight. The snorkeling on the island was fantastic, especially since we entered the water from the pier, finding ourselves immediately among schools of tropical fish swimming along the reef. Besides the common reef fish, we also encountered sharks and rays on numerous occasions. We snorkeled 2-3 times a day, which made for an unforgettable experience. The resort is deservedly famous for its restaurants. We visited Canelli and Kashibo restaurants several times for lunch and dinner, enjoying delicious cuisine, excellent service, and stunning views. The freshest oysters at Canelli will leave no connoisseur indifferent. We visited the underwater restaurant 5.8. The combination of exquisite haute cuisine, professional waiters, and views of the ocean's inhabitants will leave you speechless. At the end, the staff kindly offered us a photo op. A visit to the champagne pavilion was particularly memorable. The exquisite fine drinks, accompanied by signature canapés and an ocean sunset, left a lasting impression. There are many more amazing moments to recount: from the heartfelt musical performances in the evenings to the small but beautifully organized fitness center, which I happily visited daily, to the unique selection of rare wines in the restaurants. Huravali is an incredibly harmonious place. Vast beaches, large, spacious villas, privacy and tranquility, the unique feeling of being on an island in the middle of the ocean, combined with the exceptional hospitality of the hosts, make your vacation memories incredibly emotional. And don't forget to visit the jewelry store – stones and exquisite jewelry with a local flair can be the perfect souvenir and a reminder of the wonderful days spent on the island and its wonderful inhabitants. A place you'll want to return to again and again.
