Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa

We love going back to this resort. We’re probably gone there 10 times. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, but the resort is getting a little dated. We go back for the weather…. The sun is always shining at the time of year we go and there are no clouds or rain. Last year we went for New Year’s Eve and it was amazing, so we booked to go again this year. Some of the staff we really have enjoyed are all of the castaways team, especially Yvonne, Stefany, Venecia, Heidi and Abimael. We really like the manager of the breakfast buffet in the main dining room also. He goes out of his way to get what you want. I would give this resort up five star, however, it is getting quite dated, and it would be nice to see some improvements such as better lounge chairs and umbrellas and better menu selections in the restaurants. Other than that, we will be back in January.

I just spent a week at Secrets Huatulco. It is a lovely resort on a beautiful bay. The rooms were nice, I especially enjoyed the wet room for the shower. The food options were pretty good, as a vegan I feel they could have put more effort in their veggie options. I do really appreciate Eric at the Asian restaurant Spice for going above and beyond to make my dining experience enjoyable. The service throughout the property is friendly and prompt. The entertainment team was fantastic. Amy, Alejandro, Amir and Daniel always had fun activities going on throughout the day. Activities included everything from Guacamole making, pool yoga, Water volleyball and much much more! We did eat two lunches on the beach right next to the resort at a cute place called Don Luis, it was great! Overall I would recommend Secrets Huatulco for a teanquilo and very enjoyable vacation.

Both members of our party are vegetarians, and the staff at Spice went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience! Jesus Avila was a FANTASTIC waiter and curated a delicious multi-course meal for us with vegetarian dishes that don’t appear on the menu. Not only was the food delicious, but Jesus had great energy and was very friendly so we enjoyed our experience beyond the food. 10/10 experience, and thanks to the whole team who created our meal — Jesus Avila, Hector Avila, and Natalia Berenice.

Our trip to Secrets Huatulco was spectacular. The Resort was beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond on every single interaction. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed using our private terrace jacuzzi and while in the jacuzzi, we had the opportunity to see a pack of about 15 Coati’s that live around the property. We enjoyed the food at almost all restaurants. We were sad that we didn’t have a chance to try the seafood restaurant. Other than that, the food was delicious. We also had the chance to use the spa and it was a real treat. We enjoyed every minute of it. My wife and I highly recommend the Secrets Huatulco property and can’t wait to go in May of 2027 to the Puerto Vallarta Secrets. Alex and Nancy Juarez

We had an amazing experience. The staff was great. They really do their best to make you feel special. They have great restaurants We particularly enjoyed their French restaurant. It’s called Bordeaux. Chef Livy and our waitress Amayrani were such a delight. The French onion soup and the deserts - we tried all of them - were exquisite. Highly recommend. The Mexican restaurant was also amazing. Our waiter Gerson was very knowledgeable about the menu and treated us so well. Then by the pool, Wenson kept the drinks coming and was pleasant and kind. We will definitely be back.

Zara our concierge made our stay absolutely flawless. The resort needs some updating but the people and workers are absolutely amazing. U feel as though have made a friend for life with everyone you meet. Zara helped us through the enjoyment of the food and culture of all huatulco had to offer. Thank u UVC for another amazing trip and thank you for having concierge’s like Zara.

We have been to this resort 4 times since discovering it in 2022. While each year it shows wear and tear it still retains its charm and provides an excellent vacation because of the wonderful staff and the amazing location. The weather, views, and beaches are amazing. If the ocean is calm, you can swim and snorkel to the left side of the bay. The water is warm and clear. We stayed in a preferred club swim out room in building 6 which was great although the shower floor is weird and doesn’t feel hygienic and the bed mattress in need of replacement. That being said the housekeeping staff and fridge replenishment staff were excellent – I wish I remembered their names to mention them here. The food has improved each year. We do the preferred club so we can have access to the Castaways outdoor restaurant for breakfast and enjoy beautiful calm mornings with an ocean view. Castaways is our favorite restaurant for relaxing vibes. The staff here really stand out. We had a special seafood meal prepared here and it was honestly one of the best things I have ever eaten. Seafood in a lovely white wine garlic sauce stuffed in a pineapple. Coming here every day for breakfast, sometimes lunch and dinner provided some really lovely meals, and relaxation. Being greeted by Ivonne and Stefany every morning was a highlight for me. Heidi, Gabriela, Ruben, Adilene, Rodrigo, Sergio, Alexis, Erick, and Chef Gabriel were amazing all week with their friendliness, and attentive service. At the teppanyaki restaurant Spice we had Santiago as our chef. He provided an amazing show that was also comedic. The food was good too! We only ate at the buffet a couple of times, but Valencia makes the best omelets! One day they made fish and shrimp tacos at the pool for lunch which was excellent. Drinks are good. The table white and rose wines are drinkable and I especially enjoyed a chilled wine at lunch at castaways on many occasions. My favorite bartender was Isaul, who used to be a beach server and remembered us even though we hadn’t been there in 2 years. My favorite cocktails are margaritas on the rocks, espresso martinis, and mudslides. He does them well! The activity team is great. Daniel, who has been there for years is such a lovely young man and always remembers us. Alejandro is so energetic and funny. We enjoyed silly games at the pool and pickle ball. There is a new fellow there, I do not recall his name, but he was great at managing the pool volleyball games and also very friendly. The gym has a beautiful view. It is small. By the end of the week half of the cardio equipment was out of service. There are many stairs at this resort so you can get cardio by walking loops up and down stairs and along the beach. I used the free weights here to get some workouts in. We didn’t see any of the shows this time but enjoyed some live music at the sky bar. Chocolate pastel is a fun cover band and always gets the crowd dancing. We did a couple of short-day trips. We went to playa la entrega and were sad to see the health of the coral here has declined since first going in 2024. It gets VERY busy by mid-day here. It is fun to sit at a beach bar with all the locals though. It is a very different experience from the resort. We also went to the ruins down the road. It is a short walk through the jungle and small ruins. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility and views of la boscana river and beach, as well as birds, lizards, and snakes. We went into town at night and dined at la crema and Terra cotta. La crema has very good pizza and reasonably priced wine by the bottle. There was a market in the zocalo and we picked up a few souvenirs that were reasonably priced. I recommend this resort but with the caveat that it is due for a refresh of the pool, room furniture and showers.

This is our favorite place to go and unwind. We love the location, the weather, and the relaxing vibe. We fell in love with this place about 4 years ago and have not gone anywhere else. This was our 9th trip and we are already booked for October. The service is top notch and a few people have made our time extra special. First off, Matilde making my latte perfect every morning ( and sometimes afternoons) her smile listens up the cafe. The hostess at the buffet ( I cannot remember your name even though you remember ours all the time) and Nathalie at the fresh Asian station are outstanding. The beach is incredible and the service has always made us feel like VIP'S. Special thanks to Evangelina for the most amazing service and for the special drinks one day. Hector for his creation with the pineapple to hold our delicious drinks. We can never forget our favorite restaurant Bordeaux, from the hostess , to the best server Amayrani and you can't forget Chef Lily. I could have the French onion soup everyday! Spice was also a favorite and we are always greeted by the manager Wilian, hostess Vanessa and the servers Daniel and Alejandro. The entertainment crew is incredible and always is asking us if we want to be involved... especially in beach volleyball! Loved our sailing adventure and the daily aqua aerobics/stretches. Turn down service was incredible. Cheers to all of the Secrets team and we will see you again very soon.

This was our first time at the resort and we will definitely come back. This resort is very clean and the service is outstanding. All of the staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. We did have a couple minor issues that came up during the week but they were taken care of very quickly after bringing it to the staff’s attention. The food was excellent at all of the restaurants. Eduardo, Carlos, Mayra and Andrea went out of their way to consistently provide exemplary service for breakfast and lunch at the Market Café. Eduardo and Carlos even took the time to patiently help us improve our Spanish speaking skills. The Oceana and Castaways were our favorite dinner restaurants. Here Celeste and Jesus provided top notch service. Great resort, location and weather Was a very relaxing week. Thanks for the memories.

This was a wonderful resort. It took a little bit to figure out the layout but once you do, it was all smooth sailing. Enjoyed the very large pools and loved the fact that they actually followed through with freeing up sunbeds that were saved but not used within a certain amount of time. Food was great and the weather was hot. Awesome vacation.

Our second stay at Secrets Huatulco was absolutely incredible, and once again, Castaways stood out as our favorite restaurant on the entire property. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home. We were so happy to see familiar faces—Ivonne and Stefany—still there, which made the experience even more special. We enjoyed every single breakfast and most of our lunches at Castaways, and each visit was consistently outstanding. Ivonne, the manager, truly goes above and beyond. She is warm, welcoming, and incredibly organized, ensuring everything runs seamlessly. She made our trip unforgettable by arranging a beautifully decorated birthday lunch for us—such a thoughtful and memorable touch. Stefany, the hostess, greeted us every day with a genuine smile that set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Her positivity and kindness never went unnoticed. The entire team deserves recognition—Heidi, Gabriela, Ruben, Alexis, Adilene, Rodrigo, Sergio, and Erick all provided exceptional service. Their attention to detail, friendliness, and dedication made us feel truly valued every time we dined. And of course, the food—Chef Gabriel delivers excellence in every dish. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The view from Castaways is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning sights of the beach and ocean that make every meal even more memorable. Castaways is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience built on outstanding service, incredible food, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do. We can’t wait to return again!

We had a fantastic week at Secrets Huatulco in March 2026. Room, food, drinks and service were all perfect. The first part of our time there, the ocean was wild – still beautiful but the waves were dangerous. This gave us time to enjoy the clean, warm pools and explore the resort. Once the ocean calmed, we could swim and snorkel and walk on the shore. Many recommended water shoes for the coarser sand, but we didn’t find the sand too rough. Water shoes are nice because the sand gets very hot though. Staff at the resort are amazing. Everyone goes above and beyond. We especially remember Antonio at the Italian restaurant Cin Cin. Wow – he is so efficient. Maybe he teaches the other staff as they are all amazing. Our room category was preferred only because that was all that was available at the time of booking. We didn’t find that this gave much for extras except for a top floor room and an extra concierge service. We had a quiet room in building 4 but I think if we had been in a building on the other side of the resort, the noise from the ice making machine would have been a problem. There was one evening that an event on the pool patio area went on until after 11 p.m., but otherwise it was quiet. We did not go to any of the shows in the theatre because we tried to attend one and the volume was too loud for us. We loved the music by the guitar player at the pool area around 4:30 on March 18. We took a taxi to Playa Entrega one morning and snorkeled and another day we took a taxi to Bocana and walked the beach. Truly the beach at Secrets was wonderful and we were glad to have that beach as our main place. We did get a beach chair early – around 6:30 to 7 a.m., mainly to get a chair under a palapa. It was nice to walk out in the morning and see the birds. The welcome lady on the Nexus transfer bus to and from the resort is phenomenal. So welcoming when we arrived and cheered us up when we were leaving. I wish I knew her name. Loved our relaxing holiday! Thank you Secrets Huatulco. We look forward to returning.
