Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa

We loved our stay at Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa in Huatulco the last half of February 2026. From the time we arrived, the staff were friendly and helpful. The service all around the resort was consistently good. Everyone seemed genuinely nice and always ready to help. The food was also really good. There were lots of choices and everything we had was fresh and tasty and served with beautiful presentation. I am vegetarian and the menu options at the ala carte restaurants didn't have many veg options but I asked the concierge at the front desk and they gave me a copy of veg menus with options that I could pre-order for dinners (had to be ordered before noon each day I wanted to order). Once I figured that out, it was easy and had plenty of options. I do eat some seafood so sometimes went with that. The Surf & Turf dinner at Oceana was absolutely fantastic - skewers of steak and shrimp - I had "surf & surf" (just shrimp). Snorkeling over on the far left side of the beach by the rocks was fantastic and the resort provides the equipment for free. We saw so many amazing, colourful fish right off the beach kind of knee height to neck in the water. Definitely something we’d recommend doing! The kayak tour that is also complimentary was also amazing and highly recommended. The gym up at the spa has the most incredible views while working out and we heard that the massages are fantastic but we opted out as we felt they were too pricey $285 USD I think it was. The only downside was the "towel game" - lounge chairs at the pool and beach were almost impossible to get unless you go out to reserve them very early in the morning like everyone else seemed to do. We had an ocean front view rooms but all the rooms all have beautiful ocena front views so I don't think there are any bad ones. We looked at the rooms with swim out pools and the ones with hot tubs on the decks but we didn't feel it would be worth it and we're glad we didn't opt for those. No one in those rooms seemed to be using the jacuzzis or swim outs. The grounds are beautiful and the ocean views are stunning. Overall, we had a fantastic time with good food, great service, and some unforgettable snorkeling. We’d definitely go back!

Was such a great week. I did yoga twice a day. 8:00am and 9:15am. 8:00am was indoors at the theatre. 9:15am Yoga was under the Palapa beside the main pool. The yoga was amazing! The entire entertainment staff was amazing! Julio, Amir, Alexandria, and a few more (forgot to write down all the names) Service at the resort was excellent throughout the week. We had a lovely room - it was an ocean view with a king size bed. The resort had lots of incredible live music throughout the week. We were in bed mostly by 10pm so didn’t get a chance to take in a lot of the evening shows. The chairs by pool weren’t overly hard to get if you were up by 7:00am. However they do have pool chair patrol - and he means serious business if you haven’t occupied your chair within the hour. The pool also could use a facelift - lots of tiles missing everywhere but I don’t know when they’d make time to repair it all. We still enjoyed the pool a lot. A lot of beach to walk - you can follow the path just off to the left of the resort (off the beach) and find yourself at a hidden beach spot which is near. Food was good at all restaurants, however we stayed here a few years ago when it was owned by AMR and felt the food used to be way better than current. Over all a great week - was thoroughly enjoyed.

I spent a week at Secrets Huatalco Resort and can say it’s the best resort I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. The resort is beautiful and incredibly clean and well maintained, the food and amenities are amazing… but the best feature has to be the staff. The people working there are just so friendly and helpful. They really made our trip enjoyable. I would specifically mention Alejandro and Mardeli who took extra effort to provide friendly and responsive service. Truly a pleasure meeting them.

We had a great stay at Secrets. Although the resort looks a little age tired in places, even during the week we were there, we saw items being painted and repaired. Rooms are lovely and housekeeping exemplary. Generally, the food was good, but not outstanding, the exception being the paella at the Barefoot Grill. It was an accidental find, we don't know how regularly it is made and it didn't appear on any other menu we saw. It was the bomb! I wouldn't bother with the preferred club again, simply not worth it IMO. The resort atmosphere is lovely, and the staff's attention and friendliness are exemplary. Special mention to Mardelo for her pool bar service and Alejandro for his engaging and wonderful personality.

We loved our stay here. What comes to mind the most is the fantastic service and friendliest staff. The location was beautiful. The hotel and rooms were impeccably clean. The food was delicious. They had many activities that were so much fun and the entertainment staff were engaging and overall amazing. We even got flower petals on our bed everyday! Several pools and one very large one; large enough to have kayak races in!! All pools overlook the beach and ocean. We loved that this was an adult only resort. There was enough activities and entertainment and yet it was also quiet and relaxing. Only note is that to one restaurant and bar there are many stairs. Just sharing that for anyone with mobility issues but I believe if this is a concern they are able to drive you up there! I highly recommend this resort!!

Our family vacation was fantastic. The weather was incredible, the location is breathtaking. The rooms are clean. The pools are clean. The food is great; highly recommend Castaways and Spice. The people that work there are wonderful and genuinely care about the guest experience. Gabriel, who assisted us with off property excursions, went above and beyond. He even welcomed us at the marina prior to starting his day at the resort. The bar service at the pool was exceptional. Many thanks to Evangalina, Yogtan and Salvidor for ensuring our glass was never empty. Alejandro....thank you providing great entertainment during the day, especially enjoyed the 4:00 pm volleyball and the daily high fives. And thank you to Aurora for ensuring our swim out pool was in pristine condition, it did not go unnoticed. We are already planning our trip next year, which will our fourth time at this resort.

Mirelly at Castaways restaurant was our favorite waiter. She would take time to tutor us in Spanish and planned a special birthday dinner for my husband. She was exceptionally patient with guests who were afraid of Coatis passing by and treated us as friends. We went every night to Castaways for the food, view & friendship of the staff, in particular Mirelly. The hotel setting was magic and we had a wonderful holiday! Highly recommended!

There are a lot of reviews about the age of the building - so yes - it’s older and you have to adjust your attitude. Most of the staff are amazing - the entertainment staff make your trip amazing (if you come to play in the activities). They all do a great job juggling multiple activities! Amire and Alejandro as my kayak tour leaders absolutely made the trip amazing. The hotel was also amazing in giving us a place to watch the Olympics - they had food, drinks and staff to serve us along with 3 tv’s and 1 projector. Honestly, one of my best memories of the trip is watching hockey with a bunch of Canadians! The staff are amazing. The pools do need to be updated (they are trying to maintain as best as they can) but I can also say that the size of the pools exceeded my expectation.

Secrets provides an exceptional resort experience. They have a variety of decent restaurants, plenty of activities, a great pool configuration and we really enjoyed the live music. But what really makes Secrets stand out is their staff. We’ve been coming since 2016 and every year the employees are friendly, patient, and helpful. They are sincerely concerned about their guests.
