I can’t say enough about this heavenly place! We only came for a day using a ResortPass (book those early!), and it was a highlight of our Hawaiian vacation. I’ve never seen such a spectacular property. Just walking around and enjoying the landscaping was amazing! The pools and lazy river are gorgeous. The resort is right on the beach, which is also stunning. We can’t wait to come back and stay for longer!

We have traveled to all of the Hawaiian islands. This is our 3rd trip to Kauai. Figured it was worth trying the Grand Hyatt because it’s rated high. We stayed at Koa Kea, Sheraton and 1 Hotel Princeville two times. Always good to start with positives. Bed pretty comfortable. Bidet...

We have traveled to all of the Hawaiian islands. This is our 3rd trip to Kauai. Figured it was worth trying the Grand Hyatt because it’s rated high. We stayed at Koa Kea, Sheraton and 1 Hotel Princeville two times. Always good to start with positives. Bed pretty comfortable. Bidet nice touch. Reusable water bottle and reusable bag very smart. Now…for the not so positive. This is a convention hotel. You will hear their music every night. Luau music is crazy. (Recommend Allerton garden show). Many times competing with live music in bar. We had a nice partial ocean view but the music at night echoing throughout the lawn is troubling. Ate at pricey Terrace restaurant first night. Taste and presentation terrible. I accidentally left my hat there. Called the lost and found next 3 days. Not found. We decided to eat offsite after that. Brenneckes in Poipu is the place to go, Sat by the pool first night. Wanted to see beach but guy said too dangerous to go there. Waited an hour for a drink and food. No view. We found out the next day at the Grand Hyatt recreation desk we could ask for an umbrella and chairs and go sit on the beach. Complimentary. You need to carry there yourself. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place. Back to Koa Kea for us. Or…the big island of Hawaii. Our favorite. Best lodging and best food. Great hikes too,

The hotel property is in a beautiful setting using both man made and natural surroundings. We stayed in a partial ocean view room which I think was better than an ocean view room. From our lanai we could see the beautiful hotel property and a great view of the ocean. Our room number was 3139 and couldn’t have asked for a better room. However, and this is a big warning, the food was sub par. Not just because it was expensive, which it is ($21 for a turkey wrap), but also not good. For example, we ate at Tidepools restaurant and, just like our food from the poolside bar, it was cold and tasted like it was pre-cooked. The setting for Tidepools is quite a ways from the ocean, so you don’t get the feeling of eating oceanside. Not at all worth the $200 plus bill. Overall I give this hotel a rating of 4/5 because the setting is spectacular, but the food is mediocre at best.

Beautiful property with many nice touches all around. Very clean and well maintained. Shows a little aging here and there but nothing that takes away from the overall tropical experience. *Very customer centric staff. Any staff encounters were cordial and helpful. Huge kudos to Anna and the staff at the club. Mike at breakfast service was also outstanding. * Good location with many nearby dining choices and some shopping. Felt very safe. * self-parking was very easy. * This is a sprawling property with some stairs and ramps to negotiate. Be aware of this if there are mobility issues * There is a very comfortable lounge to use if you have a late flight, this was very helpful. You can use the lounge and enjoy all the facilities on the day you go home. * Club access is worth it. * Yes the food is expensive, but you have to know that going in and accept it. The breakfast buffet is great. Was not all that impressed with Tidepools or Seaview Terrace, though nightly live music is nice. The pool bar was very solid. Nice vibe, excellent bartenders and shade. * Room was fine and housekeeping staff on the ball. Had one minor housekeeping issue the first day involving refrigerator and thought the response was slow, but they tried to make it right. * one point of frustration involved the toaster at the breakfast buffet. They have this huge buffet but the worst toaster in the world. Mentioned this to server, hostess, dining manager but it was not corrected. * Believe it was at or close to full capacity during our visit. It seemed busy but not crowded. No problem getting seats at adult pool but walking down a steep ramp for towels was not convenient at all. So overall I would recommend it and our intention would be to stay there again if we return to the island.

This place could be 5-rated if they didn’t stumble over themselves. Pros: beautiful location on the water, pools, a spa, shops, close to wonderful attractions. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, with nice amenities including a very fancy bidet toilet. NEGATIVES: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. The restaurants are way overpriced and the food is marginal at best. 100+ dollars for a marginal fruit plate, small chicken Caesar salad with a hair in it!, and greasy fried vegetables. All were bland. So, maybe they had a bad night? Ok. We go back tonight to get an after dinner drink and listen to live music. It rained and their patio hadn’t opened back up. There were at least five tables or seating areas we could’ve had, but the hostess informs us it’s only for dinner guests (who aren’t there). Not even a far back table. Hyatt wants to nickel and dime tourists. Sad thing is we would’ve had drinks and paid a very appreciative tip. But, Hyatt missed out. Hyatt, you need to fire your Hospitality/Food & Beverage Management. That’s why I will NEVER stay here again. Terrible shame. I would’ve sung Hyatt’s praises here if they’d only given a damn.

The Grand Hyatt in Kauai has got it all. 50 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, 600 rooms, 3 distinct swimming pools, an extravagant breakfast buffet, oceanfront views, a water slide, an overpriced restaurant, elegant bar, and poolside drinks. This hotel accommodates all manners of visitors from newlyweds, families with kids, gray haired vacationers, to sun seekers. It is a huge property and our oceanfront room was on the extreme western edge of the building taking more than 700 steps to reach the lobby. About 1000 steps to reach the pool area. While all areas are accessible, an electric scooter is highly recommended for people with mobility issues. The red flags are always flying on Shipwreck Beach. So don't plan on surfing or swimming here unless you are highly skilled. Instead, use the salt water pool (complete with beach sand} for swimming. Some people at the Grand Hyatt shop at Costco and bring food and drinks to their room, others will order carry-out, some will spring for the $52 breakfast buffet or the $7 coffee in the lobby bar, a $20 cocktail and $25 burger at the pool, eat excellent sushi at Stevenson's library, or splurge at the over-rated Tidepools restaurant. All are welcome here. We spend 8 nights here and loved it.

We spent 3 nights at this beautiful resort about 20 minutes drive from Lihue Airport, among the most idyllic settings anywhere. We enjoyed the helpful & friendly staff, quiet ambience, the gorgeous garden landscaping, the Pacific vistas from our room balcony, the pools, lagoon and beach. The red flags prevented ocean swimming, but we walked along the beach path & watched surfers challenge the waves. Evenings were magical with a full moon over the beach's adjacent cliffs. The breakfast buffets (included in our package) were outstanding. Our personal favorite was the poached salmon, but there was something for everyone. We ate a delicious fresh fish dinner one night at the Seaview Terrace with a live guitarist and unsurprisingly, a sea view. There are numerous restaurants and shopping areas close by. The hotel runs an evening shuttle to those, but I recommend a car rental, since there are also attractions to see beyond the hotel grounds, but one could easily spend many days taking advantage of the resort facilities. Thanks, Hyatt, for a wonderful, memorable and relaxing vacation.

This was going to be a 5 star review, but! This is a beautiful, luxury resort, but it is very expensive, so I would expect it to be. We enjoyed our stay, but there are two items that just didn't meet my expectations. First, the rooms aren't the cleanest for this level of resort. Second, we have 8:30 pm flights and asked for a late checkout. I am a Hyatt member, this is our second visit, and no way is the resort super full/busy. I asked at check-in, and was told it shouldn't be a problem, but to check back the night before. Well, for some reason, it now is a problem, and we couldn't have a later checkout. I would expect them to do this for a Hyatt member, especially when the resort isn't busy. We did not do the luau, since we have attended one in the past. We did not use the spa. Not our thing. The pool was beautiful and clean. The service pool side was great. We had no problem getting lounges. There were many empty ones. There was also a 'beach' area, that provided loungers in the sand, and a swim area that was an ocean salt 'pool'. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The breakfast buffet was good, but we found the one at the Fairmont in Maui to be better. There are many stores and restaurants close by. We had a car, so we enjoyed visiting several places on the island. Kauai is beautiful.

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa was spectacular. We arrived early and they didn’t offer an upgrade, so we inquired and the front desk attendant printed our view vs the others available, and we agreed to keep the one we had-it was already amazing overlooking the resort’s pool and could see the ocean. We used the bellhop service as we were early and couldn’t check in yet (room wasn’t ready). We utilized the pool and had lunch twice at the Hale Nalu quick service (the quesadillas were delicious). We enjoyed the daily morning buffet at the Ilima Terrace. It was one of the best buffets I have ever seen. It was in our package, but FYI gratuity was not included. This hotel offers a hospitality lounge if you’re flying out late/early to use showers/changing rooms etc. We did store our bags with the bellhop and utilized this lounge before we departed for the airport. One night we went to Poipu Beach to see about 30 giant turtles. On our last evening we walked the well it area along the beach and came back to the hotel lobby for live music. We enjoyed the many parrots that reside in the lobby. There are so many pools!! We loved our room too which had a comfortable bed and sofa. The balcony was good sized as well. I was able to squeeze in a yoga session and see the gym/spa area. Alan the instructor was fabulous!

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is an amazing place to visit. We have returned to this property many times over the years. It has everything we enjoy having in a Hawaiian vacation hotel — ocean front rooms, great food, beautiful pools , and a nice fitness center and spa. This stay has been made even more special with the warm hospitality we received from Erin from the Guest Experience Team and Ana from the Grand Club Family.

The location of the property was awesome. This place is really beautiful. However, the rooms are so dated!! They definitely need to remodel the rooms. replace the carpet in the hallways It’s pretty stained from the windows being open in the hallways. The entertainment was so so not that great....

Our favorite restaurant was tide pool they have these dinner rolls that are so good. The place itself was pretty clean. The employees were fabulous, very professional, courteous, kind, and went above and beyond the call of duty. Eric at the front desk was very accommodating. we ran into a little snag, but he fixed it with no problems. We were quite happy😊 thank you so much Eric.

This was an absolute waste of our money! There are so many beautiful places to visit and choosing to stay here was an error in judgement. First, upon entering the lobby to check-in, the lobby design looking directly at the ocean is really pretty. Also, the grounds are really nice and well manicured with tropical foliage and beautiful birds. After this, it's all downhill and so very disappointing. 1. Rooms are outdated with mold and mildew everywhere. 2. Ants and other bugs in the room. 3. Disgusting stains on all the furniture in the bedroom area (beyond gross). 4. Woke up to an electric saw at 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM. Unbelievable! (They sent a pineapple on a plate the next day to apologize. SMH) 5. Paid $856.00 for a couples massage by a woman who clearly was not a massage therapist. She had no idea what she was doing. Unbelievable shocking! 6. If a hotel guest paying 1500.00 per/night wants to sit by the ocean, then that guest must pay to rent a chair or cabana. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ELSEWHERE. Heck, we will never return to Kauai because of how poorly this resort is - taking such advantage of people who simply need a vacation. BUYERS BEWARE!

If you have a family and want to hang out in kids pool all day, maybe I see the appeal but for anyone else, stay away. Absolutely not worth the prices. For $1000+ you don’t even get a free coffee in the morning?! Or beach chairs?!

My husband and I spent 4 nights/5 days here for our honeymoon after enjoying 5 nights on Oahu. Staying here should depend on the purpose you booked this hotel. For families with children, or those who want to spend their days at the resort, this resort is perfect! For those wanting to get up early, explore the island and come back during the evening to enjoy the resort, you may experience some inconveniences. We arrived at a busy time when many were checking in and no one helped me get our luggage inside to check in as my husband went to park the car. I was sad to see other families helped and given leis and I wasn’t helped until I made it to the check in desk and the man realized I didn’t have a lei or anyone to help put my bags on a cart. This also might have been why we missed hearing towels were available at the valet if needed during outside hours of the recreation desk which I wasn’t informed of until our 2nd to last day of our stay. We self parked the car instead of paying $40 a night for parking. Pros: We loved the wristbands that let us into our room that were waterproof. Very convenient. We booked a reservation at tide pools and Les was incredible! We loved the rolls we were served and his service was the best we experienced at the resort! He gave us lots of tips and gave us a complimentary dessert for our honeymoon. We also booked a couples massage which was incredible. The lady that did my massage was great at checking in to make sure I was enjoying the massage and I didn’t feel awkward asking her to change pressure. We also enjoyed that you could leave and come back from the spa throughout the day if you wanted to go get lunch or explore the pools. Everyone at the spa was very helpful and made that day wonderful. We bought the soap and lotion for ourselves and some more for our families. This was great for couples that want to have some quiet time. The outdoor garden massage was so beautiful and peaceful and you won’t get to experience that somewhere else. You are paying for the views and pools here. They are exceptional! It is nice they have an adults only pool, however, the lazy river is a main attraction and very crowded with children. (This was to be expected). Pools and grounds get 5 stars!!!!! We also enjoyed the birds in the morning and seeing local vendors. Honolulu coffee at the resort is great as well and has a nice selection of beverages and food. At check in, they gave us a bottle of champagne however, my husband and I don’t drink alcohol and they gave us a bottle of cider. This was incredibly kind. The beach is nice to walk in the evening around sunset. The location of the hotel on the south side is great! It was easy to get to places on the island. Cons: We came from a different hotel in Oahu that was a 4 Star hotel and this one was a 5 Star hotel. The service we received at the other hotel and the updatedness of the rooms there was far superior. I felt my expectations were high for a 5 star hotel and the price we were paying. I also did a lot of research on this hotel before staying and am shocked I didn’t find this information out until we got there: beach chair rentals, umbrellas, towels are available at the recreation desk during their hours (8-5). When we checked in we went down to the recreation desk to find tubes for the lazy river and you have to pay $6 to rent for the day and return the tubes by 5 when the desk closes. I was incredibly disappointed by this as we wanted to spend the day exploring the island and the early morning/evening at the pool before the crowds set in. I wish the man at the desk would have informed us we could have bought our own tube and they would inflate it there and that towels were available after hours at valet. There is a store on the resort where you can buy the same exact tubes they have for $6. Just beware of the hours. Stores and the recreation desk close early in my opinion. The hotel we stayed at previously had 24/7 access to get beach equipment and the service there was much much better. It was incredibly convenient. I felt like I always had to watch the time on Kauai to make sure we could get to a store/restaurant/recreation desk before they closed. Maybe that is only for couples that want to swim 6-9am or 7-10pm to avoid crowds. Again, the adult pool is great but we also wanted to enjoy the lazy river and slide. Also, there are a lot of cabanas that are beautiful!!!! however, you have to pay and reserve them ahead of time. If you want seats by any of the pools during peak times 10-4, you better get there early to reserve chairs. Summary: I tried to give a full review of the beautiful resort. Great pool, grounds, spa, and restaurants. As a honeymoon couple, this resort is more ideal for families or those that want to stay at the resort the full day. I would definitely book here again but would book less days and make sure we are spending the days at the resort instead of exploring the island. You will not find views like this elsewhere. They truly are incredible and why the resort is so expensive to stay at. I wish the service and hours matched the price point. Mahalo!

We would like to mention people by name because they were so kind to us. First, we would like to thank Atela who checked us in on May 15 . She was so professional and so sweet. Thanks to everyone at the Bell desk, including Keo, Alana, Margaret and Ariel. They couldn’t do enough for us. Thanks so much to you Erika for all you did to make my 75 th birthday so memorable. It wasn’t just the staff that made our stay so wonderful. We are Explorist level World of Hyatt members and this afforded us special benefits which helped make our experience at this Hyatt so memorable. This was our browniesninth stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and we hope that we will be able to come back again.

We split our anniversary trip on the North and South shore. We stayed at GHK and from the get go the service was terrible. We asked for a late checkout due to our flight leaving late, said we had to check back the day before our departure. On the day before we checkout they of course they would not accommodate, we had to pay an additional $300. All of the staff here looks very unhappy. Tidepools food was not good at all. We have had dinner reservations at our spots and hotels on the South and they are amazing. Merriman’s, Red Salt, Beach House. The food at this hotel is not good at all. There was a roach and several other insects in our room. The grounds are pretty but the actual resort is dirty, they do not keep it clean. If you want to stay here just be prepared, they are not nice or friendly or accommodating. When we stayed on the 1 Hotel we asked for a late checkout and at no cost got a 4pm checkout. It’s a family friendly resort but if you are looking for great service and good food this is not the hotel.

We love the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa! The property is beautiful. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean! The pool is incredible with multiple levels, several pools and a Salt Water Lagoon. The gardens and view is stunning. We had a special set up in our room to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary including champagne. We loved our pool water Ian! He was so friendly and remembered our names and conversation each day! His service is excellent and he could give lessons to others in making customers happy! Our housekeeper Estrella was sweet and efficient. And we always enjoy Mark and Chad at The Captains bar! And the crew at Stevenson’s Library! Families should take note this is an upscale resort. Food and beverage is very pricey but service makes it worthwhile.

This resort is massive and top notch. They offer and have everything from restaurants, bars, pools, shopping, coffee bar with an exceptional view of the ocean.

Maddie was amazing! We were hesitant to use the resort photographer but they turned out exactly as we had imagined. The session was free and there was no pushy sales tactics at the end we only bought what we liked.

This is way late, but we are returning tomorrow and I was reading the reviews and realized I'd neglected to post my prior experience. We came for the first time two years ago to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. I have to say that was a great decision! Our Anniversary was very nicely recognized, and we were so happy with our beautiful view-- we had opted for an ocean view, and it was a very lovely view of not only the ocean, but also some of the grounds, which are gorgeous. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, from the front desk, housekeeping, breakfast buffet staff, bartenders, pool staff-- everyone was just delightful! Not being young folk, we did find the walk to the pools from our room quite the trek, but honestly that little inconvenience was not terrible. This year I'm arriving after unfortunately having had an accident and am on crutches, so hopefully we will have a room with less walking. As helpful as we found the front desk last time, I'm sure they will do their best to accommodate us as much as they can. Back to more pluses, the breakfast buffet was so appealing, with lots of tasty options and cuisines represented. In fact, every place we ate on site, including Tidepool, the Terrace and pool bar, had delicious food. I also definitely enjoyed my share of lava flows and other tropical concoctions, which I encourage everyone to try. Also, the pool areas were spectacular! We did rent a cabana, but the on the other days we had no trouble finding lounge chairs. This year I also hope to enjoy the lazy river since we'll be staying more on-site. I'll be sure to update after this upcoming visit in a more timely fashion 😊

We also ate at Tidepools twice, both times were really good, (the rib eye was delicious as was the crab cake appetiser) There are lots of places to sit and relax, we liked sitting by the lagoon best, great pool service, really nice pool side food and lots of sun loungers. It’s a great location to get from the airport (and take a helicopter tour from there) and also to go to Poipu beach to see the turtles.. The grounds are immaculate, lots of fish in one of the ponds, parrots in the lobby and egrets strolling around… just lovely, literally paradise ! My only little gripe is that we booked in July to attend the hotel’s luau on Saturday Oct 4th, they cancelled it via e mail on Sept 1st saying due to unforeseen circumstances they’ve had to cancel it.. I thought maybe the area they hold it in was being refurbished…. That would be unforeseen….But no they held a huge conference come dinner/music event so they’d obviously gave this priority over holding their luau for their standard guests. Everting else was superb though.

The staff from bellmen to front desk to housekeeping were all so pleasant and helpful. We had a couple's massage and my husband said it was the best massage of his life. We paid extra for an ocean view and we were in room 6003 which is the farthest away building. It was quite a far walk from the pools and lobby and to your car but the view was incredible, and we appreciated that we were in a quiet part of the resort. For a 5 star resort, I did expect a bit more. The fan in our room only went one speed even with a switch that had four speeds. The AC wouldn't go lower than 65 but with the slow fan the room was usually 68 degrees which is hotter than we like for sleeping. There were dust balls around the door frame and some stains on the wall as well as some stained towels. My electrical outlets and USB ports in my nightstand didn't work so I had to go behind the nightstand to plug anything in and it was quite dirty back there. The cabana prices are very high. Grand Hyatt lists as an amenity that you can check out beach chairs and umbrella, but nowhere is it listed that you have to return them by 6pm. This made this amenity unusable for us as we wanted to rent beach chairs for sunset. They also make you purchase your rafts for the lazy river which feels very much like nickel and diming considering the cost you are paying to stay there. If these areas of concern were remedied, it would truly feel like a 5 star resort.

We have stayed in Club rooms at other resorts and they were nicer rooms. Not here. I was expecting something a little more special and luxurious than this and I had hoped to make this a very special trip for my wife on our anniversary. Other than the beautiful lobby and extensive pool area, the hotel room is just that--a basic hotel room. Not even a work desk. And we have to call Guest Request every day of our 9-day stay to get our towels changed out? That is not a 5-star experience. Give me an opportunity to opt out, bit do not force me to make a phone call to opt in to getting new towels. Not quite the luxury experience we expected. First time staying here. Way too pricey for the mediocre product that is being delivered. Definitely not a 5-star hotel.

This resort is beyond spectacular! It is literally a tropical oasis ideally situated on pristine coastline along one of Kauai's most beautiful parts of the island. We stayed for a week and though we opted for a basic room without an ocean view as we'd booked late, it was still a lovely, well-appointed room. My only wish was that it had a tub as I typically soak at least once per day. We had such a phenomenal time that we have already booked reservations for a return trip in April of next year.

Erika, Cindy, Amy and Erin made each day a special visit and was always so much fun to chat and made feel so special. Celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary with such great folks and a lovey location made the entire trip a huge pleasure. Room was so clean, bed so comfy and lanai was great for watching the sunset with a wonderful partner. Can’t say enough about the service and staff, from a very quick check-in to a sad but nice check-out-thank you Benny for loading our car, we had a great time. Thanks to all.
