My wife and I recently stayed at Azul Beach Resort and loved the experience! The beach was amazing, and the people were incredible! Specifically, every single member of the staff we encountered went the extra mile to ensure we made the most of the experience! Our housekeeper Angie was meticulous and the room was super clean! Our beach person Lucian went to great extents to provide us with extra towels and ensure we had what we needed! Don't get me wrong, it's not a perfect experience, but I do not think this should be expected. Azul is an all inclusive resort, so the food is not going to be the quality of a five star restaurant. They don't have an abundance of beach chairs or towels, but if you plan for this ahead of time, this resort offers perhaps the finest quality, modern room you can find directly on Seven Mile Beach and direct access to the beach 50 feet from your building, which were the primary goals of our vacation! There's also fun entertainment activities, a taxi service if you need it to get around, and a top notch security team!

Like a lot of people, I was a little concerned about some of the negative reviews. However, after spending 4 night there last week for my 30th anniversary, both I and my (much pickier) wife left feeling completely satisfied. As others mentioned, it's a long drive from the airport (2.5 hours on a weekday, 1.5 on a Saturday return), but our driver was enjoyable and made it feel like a tour. At the resort, we were upgraded to the adults-only section of the resort (though there was really only one section that seemed to have any kids at all...it seems to be primarily a resort for adults.) Food was very good (though asking for it to be as great as the best restaurants in your hometown is a bit unfair, though mane negative reviewers look like they expected that). Favorites were the open Palms Restaurant for breakfast, the two "gourmet corners" for lunch (as well as the excellent Jamaican patties at the Beans coffee shop), and the variety of the Mahogany buffet for dinner. Staff was almost entirely excellent, and the beach can't be beat, especially with the warm ocean water. My wife took advantage of the spa and said is was great, while I used the free water sports to try stand-up paddleboarding for the first time. Drinks were always cold, and the bartenders (at the multitude of bars) were friendly. Only small complaints: As an older property, it's easy to find small issues with the rooms (e.g., doors, toilets, etc.) and the decking around the pools. From my years of experience, most places near beaches have the same issues due to relentless salt air and humidity. One real complaint would be that none of the showers for washing off sand when leaving the beach were working, meaning you had little choice other than to get it off in the pools. We enjoyed the walk, but it is probably a half-mile from one end to the other, which my be a concern for some people. Finally, we tried to visit the Nesta bar when the poolside entertainment wasn't to our liking (e.g., karaoke, with all its ups and downs), but they didn't even have music playing when we went in. I get that they don't want to compete with the main event, but some quiet Bob Marley for people who wanted to have a drink in comfort would have been a plus. In the end, you can find things to dislike if you want, which is certainly also true of resorts that cost twice as much, but if you don't go looking for problems or expect perfection, it is likely that you will leave almost completely relaxed and satisfied (especially if you get a good deal like we did).

I would love to give this resort a 5 star review, but there were a few things that dropped the rating a little bit. First of ABSOLUTELY 5 Stars for the staff! Our butlers Sheri and Reshane were fabulous, some of the best service we have ever had. All the waitstaff and hosts were great. Housekeeping was even more than 5 stars, they did a great job. Five stars for the beach, beautiful sand that stretches for miles to the south and about a half mile to the north. Except for a section about 200 yards long where there were some exposed coral/rocks it was perfect. Easy to walk in and beautiful sunsets to boot. Azul's beach section is well maintained and as we are members we had dedicated beach chairs. There were beach chairs on the rest of the beach, but not as many. Also it is true that there are not a lot of pool area lounge chairs. Four stars in total for the restaurants. Achee (the Caribbean restaurant) was very good 5 stars. Try the stuffed jerk chicken breast with sweet potato mash, and the jerk pork. Mahogany (breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet) 4.5 stars. Good variety, menu had different specialties each night. Jamaican night was the very best. Very solid . Asian, only open for dinner. 3.5 stars, some food was very good, some was ordinary. Not bad, just not terribly good. Sushi was fresh tasting, but very limited and rather plain. Prestige has other Asian restaurants in the family of resorts that are excellent, so this one could be as well. Italian, also only open for dinner. 3.0 stars. Large portions, nicely plated, but very average taste. Again Prestige has other Italian restaurants in the chain that are amazing, so this one could improve. Having said that EVERY SINGLE person who greeted us, took our dinner orders, filled water glasses, etc was superb. Service at all the restaurants was friendly and excellent. The resort is located on a narrow strip of beach, so that does mean it is close to the main road. Some road noise can be heard, but in this part of Negril every resort is right on the road. The room was spotless, and well stocked. Parts of the property could use a coat of paint, but the grounds were manicured and beautiful. Bed was comfortable and the air conditioner was powerful, actually TOO cold. It would cool the room so quickly we could have it on for a short time, then leave it off all night. Check in was very fast! Check out maybe even faster. Please don't take my ratings as we were disappointed in the property. We would definitely return for the beach , the local food, and the staff!

We loved our stay here. They upgraded our room to adults only which was wonderful. I chose Azul because of the beach access & swim up suites. There’s a lot of other resorts in the area, but at Azul you can walk out of your room & be directly on the beach. You basically pay for what you want In a resort. You either get luxurious property, more modern, expensive buildings, or you can get great beach access with an older, still very beautiful property. Azul is a bit older but the staff works hard to keep everything clean, working, etc. As others have stated, the food is ok. Our favorite was Ackee on our last night there. We watched the sunset from the upper level restaurant while the Superbowl party was going on right below us. We still had a great view of the game. The staff did a GREAT job for the Superbowl party. The bars were always well staffed & I never had to wait to be served. The only thing I didn’t get to try was the banana daiquiri because they ran out of bananas. For the price, I considered this a great deal. Will definitely visit again.

I have to give a honest review of this place and hotel . We came to this hotel when it was sensatori 9 years ago and it was beautiful, good service , nice staff and clean and in good order , food also was a good choice . 9 years later :….. well what can I say . It was awful , the hotel is run down and tired with ripped dirty seats and not many of them , you had to sit on the sunbeds to watch the evening entertain me t for in the evenings or stand up . BEFORE : lots of tables and chairs laid out for evening with a bbq every other night by the pool etc etc . Sunbeds : dirty , broken and the day beds on the beach was horrendous, all the curtains where ripped blowing in the wind and the wood was all broken and some beds non useable but left in the beach to just look extremely untidy , they never had these day beds before in beach and they look awful they spoil the view and a lot of people never used them they preferred sunbeds , so take them away . The decking by the pool area was dangerous and in bad news of repair . ROOMS: tired no replacement of any kind like water etc . POOL TOWELS : run out old them and tatty . Never ever did you get pool service ! . FOOD /RESTUERANT : Terrible hardly any choice what so ever , no ice cream , no jelly , no cheese and biscuits no yogurts or anything food same every night and I can eat most things I am not a fussy eater but I could not eat any of this food it was so bland and tasteless . Awful . Table service was hot and miss and staff was rude . And only took a shine to certain people . The hotel has built and added more rooms and pools and some have become timeshares . This has ruined the hotel which ince was a smaller hotel and run very well , the adults section (the oldest bit ) has been forgotten. Now I could go on but I will say who is reading this and thinking booking think again , do not expect a 4 star plus hotel . Go elsewhere if you can . As there is something not quite right with this hotel , it’s got no trimmings at all and I personally think this should be looked at again by tui for its customers. We have since been to Egypt and WOW what a difference, my husband has not once had to go to the bar (which he don’t mind ) we have been waited on with drinks by pool and on the beach and the food is fantastic with great friendly staff who actually want to serve you with a smile . The food is delicious and so much choice even a fussy eater could eat well , the choice is amazing, clean areas in all areas , replenished rooms with water , crisps , chocolate and drinks . I can’t say enough about this hotel (sensatori Egypt ) if you want to visit , adult areas . Don’t waste your money on a long flight to get to this hotel in Jamaica and be disappointed as you could be anywhere and you can get a better service for less money elsewhere . Lastly: I was pestered by the security guard on the beach for drinks which actually I thought was appalling for a hotel that is meant to be 4star plus . And made me feel extremely awkward . Don’t book this hotel , I can’t understand the positive reviews , much better hotels .

We are here now for 10 days, with friends and I have to say the food is amazing and the staff are all very fantastic, the beach and ocean are beautiful...too bad there are a lack of chairs and umbrellas on the beach....except of course for prestige members. So we have to go down to the beach every morning at 5am to get chairs as they are taken by 7. We did book premium, that gave us a very nice room in building eleven, and our very nice concierge, Kevon. The whole resort needs some tlc. The deck boards are patched together, uneven, and someplace missing. The pool drinks are quite often missing ingredients and are made with cheap booze and syrup. However, the staff are really friendly and do their best. Thanks, Camille and our beach waiter, Dave. Always smiling. For all the negatives, we are having a fantastic time and are eating very well. Shout out to Sade at the Mahogany bar, Xavier, Marion, and of course Poochie at the coffee place...o and Anna Kay at the Oceans. Also, the entertainment staff are always smiling, high energy. Amazing service by amazing people. One Love
