Azul Beach Resort Negril

Overall, I would rate this resort somewhere around a 3.5–4 stars rather than a true 5-star experience. If you're looking for a family-friendly vacation, this resort is a good option. However, if you're looking for an adults-only atmosphere or more of a party vibe, this probably isn't the resort for you. There were children throughout the resort, including at the bars, which wasn't the experience I was hoping for. We stayed in a Deluxe Swim-Out Suite, which was very nice and one of the highlights of our trip. The room itself was comfortable, and the swim-out feature was great. However, the furniture could definitely use a deep cleaning and some updating, as the rooms are beginning to show their age. The mini-fridge was consistently stocked, and housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean throughout our stay. One of the best parts of our vacation was the staff. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and always willing to help. A special thank you to our butler, Rasahne, who was fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. Selena was also amazing and provided outstanding service. The bartenders were another highlight. Safarie at the Nesata Lounge made excellent drinks and was always a pleasure to visit. Alshane at the main bar was also outstanding and made some of the best drink shots during our stay! The beach staff and lifeguards were friendly and attentive, especially Shawn, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The food was okay—it was definitely edible, but nothing particularly memorable. The only restaurant I didn't enjoy was the Asian restaurant, which unfortunately wasn't to my taste. Would I return? Maybe. If the resort added an adults-only pool, more adults-only activities, and updated the rooms, I would definitely consider coming back. The exceptional staff made a positive impression, but overall, the resort caters more to families than adults seeking a relaxing or lively adults-only getaway.

I am not bashing the hotel in general because there were many good aspects of it. BUT it is not the 5 star hotel that it claims to be, and that the price would reflect. The employees were generally very pleasant and helpful (especially Dean who helped with our bags and valet, Ricardo and the other guys in the beach area and Racquel and Timar at the restaurants). The food at Ackee especially was excellent (although the desserts in general at all the restaurants were underwhelming). The front desk worked with us to set up a birthday surprise for one of our group, made a room change to accommodate someone who would have struggled to climb 3 sets of stairs once we realized there were no elevators, and did things like call the evening before our check-out to verify if we needed help with our luggage or transportation for departure day. That was good. The grounds are well kept, the beach is great and we felt comfortable with the level of security that was provided. HOWEVER, to be a 5 star hotel - and charge 5 star prices - some things need attention. I was there with a large group. (over 20 ppl in 10 rooms and a mix of Jamaican residents and foreign residents). Some rooms were good (if a little dated), but there were others that had issues: from faulty shower heads to rusty/grimy shower curtains, to un-useable bathtubs with cracks in them, and at least one where the tub had not been 100% cleaned prior to check-in. One in our group asked for a bathmat and was told none were available but I had a bathmat in my bathroom. Other things: There were many areas where the paint had just not been done neatly and a large coffee spill/stain on the stairs leading to my room took 2 days to clean up and even then was only partially done. The lounge chair on my balcony was tattered as were several others. Regarding the entertainment staff: The evening shows they put on were fine. One area where they can improve though is learning how to cater better to their audience. One night there was to be a party but most of the music being played was dancehall and the only people dancing and enjoying themselves were the staff. At one point my group requested a change in music and when that happened we got onto the dance floor and were having a good time but that did not last long before they went back to dancehall music and only the staff dancing. The music should be more inclusive considering that MOST of the guests are foreigners. eg. Instead of so much Vibez Kartel and Alkaline, there should be more Sean Paul and Shaggy. That's what the tourists would respond to. These things are what makes the difference between 5 star luxury and not. Lastly the room occupancy policy is highly limiting and made things even more expensive for some of the families in my group. It actually priced one family out altogether from making the trip because a father, mother and their 2 children were being required to book 2 separate rooms. Even though ultimately we had a good time, I would not come back to this hotel when I can pay these same prices and stay somewhere else and get a true high end experience.

Stunning resort! This is my second time here, and this visit was much better than before! Some staff members were truly exceptional. Notably: Paula at the cafe; Dwight, the Sales Manager; and Jorge, the Hospitality & Culinary Manager (I don’t think I ever saw this man off the job, and he was always happy with a smile on his face—it was wonderful to see). Our bellboys, Dwayne & Shamar, our housekeeper, Donna, and our turndown housekeeper, Kaye-Anne (I hope this is how you spell her name), were all top-notch. Lifeguard Shawn was wonderful and always made sure we were taken care of, and Lifeguard Rush was one of the hardest-working people we saw at the resort. The security team was also awesome—super friendly and attentive! All of these people set a wonderful example, but we did notice some discrepancies that need work. First, at the snack bar, guests who have already ordered need to be prioritized before staff members place their own orders for guests. Additionally, some staff members truly didn’t look like they wanted to be at work; it was very hard to get a smile out of them, and we noticed a couple of eye-rolls. I think that behavior needs to stop. Perhaps a training session or two on hospitality and guest interaction would be helpful, as this behavior gives a negative spin to the resort experience, even when staff think guests aren't watching. Again, this wasn’t directed at me at all, but I did see it happen with other people. On a positive note, the jerk pit in front of Garfield is amazing, and it should happen more than once or twice a week! However, the entertainment needs improvement. The nighttime shows were excellent but in the daytime it was dead. We hung out at the beach near Garfield’s, and there was barely any music playing. The last two days we were there, they had music at the pool for the pool party, and it was awesome. We feel there should be music playing every single day for those who are at the beach as well. It was a little too quiet—again, that’s just constructive criticism because I know that Karisma loves to highlight their entertainment team. Our rooms were excellent and very clean. The welcome amenity and setup for our last night were absolutely stunning and beautiful, which we appreciated. I thought the food was OK, and definitely better than the last time I was here. More options were available, making it easier to eat with dietary restrictions and allergies. They definitely had gluten-free options, but it would be nice to have a few more, especially when it came to desserts and breads. Now, the biggest thing for me—again, it didn’t ruin my vacation, and I gave a four-star rating for that reason—is that there should be more beach service on the Garfield side of the beach. There was barely any service at all. That said, the vibes, the cleanliness, and the overall staff environment were beautiful. The beach itself is exceptional; I don’t think there is a better beach in Jamaica. A few final things to improve: Azul needs a better system with the beach towels because there were very few available. Maybe bring back a card system where you have to trade a card to get a towel? Also, the room service either needs to be completely eliminated or a lot more effort needs to be put into it. We ordered room service through the app twice and never received it either time. When calling room service, at least three out of four times the phone just kept ringing without anyone answering, so we just didn’t get anything at all. That definitely needs to be improved or eliminated; there’s no point in offering it if you’re not going to actually expedite the orders. Again, none of this made or broke our vacation at all, but it's just an observation! The transfer company that has all uses, Errol Flynn was excellent. I highly recommend booking transfer company to the resort. It was seamless. Our driver nicknamed Baller, was awesome. He definitely will be the person we will request from here on out. We will be back!

Just arrived home after 10 days at the Azul resort, read some reviews before we went and was slightly concerned with what has been said on here so this is our honest opinion on the resort Yes it does need some updating especially on the decking and some parts of the outside of the hotel, however if you can handle that then it's an amazing place, the location is perfect, the beach is beautiful and the food is first class, the rooms are a little out dated but clean just like the rest of the resort, fridge topped up daily, free water sports and great bars, had a cabana everyday as it was really quiet, best part about this hotel is the staff, every person who works there from the gardeners, security, cleaners, bar staff are the best, they are always happy to see you, go out of their way to make you feel special, never experienced anywhere with staff this good, special mention to mamma Sheryl, went out of her way everyday to make our holiday, spent my 50th birthday there, she bought me champagne on the beach and booked us a restaurant at Lilly's when we couldn't get a table, she and all the other members of staff will make your holiday, will definitely be going back, so if you want a beautiful beach great food and fun staff it's definitely the place to be, a few tired looking parts is not enough to give this place a bad review.

If you are looking for a relaxed beach holiday with beautiful views this ticks all the boxes. The staff re very friendly and cannot do enough to help you. The breakfast is good with varied options and w loved the omelette station. Lunch options are jerk on the beach, buffet lunch which was average or a burger bar which has different options. For dinner there was always a selection of restaurants to choose from on the resort. We did venture out for dinner twice as we stayed for two weeks so would recommend the Boardwalk Village and Miss Lilys. The rooms could do with being updated but wasn’t a problem as they were clean. The spa is worth using and we had brilliant massages. Overall a really enjoyable stay and would return. Thank you!

I chose Azul Beach Resort for my wedding, based on my own research. Multiple reviews, travel agents and brides told me to choose otherwise— I am so glad I didn’t! Dwight, Carla and Danielle on the wedding team were amazing to work with! They answered questions quickly, stayed in communication and once my family and I (26 of us!) got to the resort, they were hands on, attentive and amazing. Everything went perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better semi-private dinner, ceremony, reception & candlelight dinner. My family was so happy with everything from the service, to the wedding, to the food and attentiveness. The wedding team never stopped checking on us. Every employee is so friendly, so personable and remembers your name like family. The employees are out everyday cleaning everything in sight, working hard and doing it with a smile. The time is what you make of it. My family was so happy with not only the wedding but the resort as well, we will be returning. Thank you all for making me and my now HUSBANDDDDDDD’s dream come true :)

No complaints! We moved to Azul to chill a few days after a week at Hedonism. We were warned that it's not the 24/7 party that we were coming from, and that's exactly what we wanted! Check in was easy, we were handed chilled towels and a drink upon entering the lobby. Room wasn't ready and didn't expect it to be, so off to the Amber Oceanfront bar where cold drinks and a nice breeze was just the ticket. Lunch was jerk chicken on the beach, and it was a good as any jerk I have had in Negril. Our room (23006) was top floor, ocean view, building 2. Everything worked and was clean enough, and we loved the view. Evening entertainment was the usual loud, but stopped promptly as scheduled. The Mahogany buffet was decent, with excellent service. We tried the Asian restaurant too: small portions, order more than you think you'll want, although the taste was on point. Beans provided great coffee and Frappuccino, with fun finger foods. Beach was, ofc, perfect, as 7-Mile always is. Beach towels readily available with lots of options for shade along the water. We have walked past this place to years and now we know, we will be back!

This is a wonderful location, with extremely warm and friendly staff. The beach is beautiful and well taken care of, with security on site all day and a lot of staff to tend to guests. If you’re planning to go to this hotel, I’d note the following; Negatives; - the hotel could do with a slight renovation and some of the metal work in the bathrooms is a little rusty. Overall the hotel could do with a touch up and modernised very slightly. - Options for food are OK - but not brilliant. The quality of the food outside of the Mahogany buffet could be better. But again, it isn’t terrible. - There is a lack of air conditioning in the Amber bar so was often very humid sitting there. - Nesta Bar was heavily advertised for late evening however when you go there, there is no music and we were told the DJ would be coming - but he never came. We often had to play music from the TV’s which was disappointing. If the staff are going to advertise Nesta Bar there needs to be music playing in the background so it isn’t underwhelming for guests when they turn up - which up until our last two nights, unfortunately was. This excludes the live singer / pianist. Positives; - A lot of care goes into the day to day treatment of the beach, sunbeds and towels - The staff are very friendly and warm and made us feel extremely welcome and taken care of. - there are a range of activities to get involved with including water sports and boat trips. - the entertainment and pool team are excellent and we wanted to give a special shout out to Jayda, Rafa, Rayon, JJ, Adrian, as well as Camille and Samuel (bar staff). And buffet staff; Anaya, Marion and Tasscia. - we thoroughly enjoyed the water aerobics - the entertainment was great overall and we particularly loved the steel band show, Bob Marley show and the sip and paint. The staff at this hotel made our experience as special as it was, so thank you to all!!

The water and sand were perfection. I meant it…best beach I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit. Food was definitely one of the better all inclusives I’ve had, and service was prompt, friendly, and accurate. However, the condition of the buildings, decking, and rooms were way past needing renovations. We were here nine years ago, came back for the first time last week, and it was exactly the same as it was nine years ago. I can’t blame the hurricane, as she didn’t hit Negril. But it is a shame because this resort sits on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Would we return? For the staff, food, service, and beach….yes. Pools were okay. Would we be happier and recommend to others if it had a massive renovation? Absolutely.

We stayed at the Azul May 2nd to May 9th There are a lot of pros and some cons that you need to know about that will save you hundreds of dollars! PROS: The resort is a little dated but the staff are amazing. Buffet and restaurant staff are very kind and attentive. Housekeeping did an amazing job cleaning the rooms and fridge was stocked daily. Beach staff was amazing. No towels cards needed and plenty of towels. The beach servers were very efficient and friendly. Food was really good and room service staff and food was excellent! The beach was one of the nicest I have ever seen . It was crystal clear and calm. I loved that everything was close by. The beach was steps away from the room. CONS : We arrived at 2:30 pm and we were told our room would not be ready until 5PM. Check out is at 12 :00 so what was the problem? They upselled us to a swim up suite for $ 820.00 CAD and since it was our anniversary we bought in. They put us in room 19003. There was a swim up bar in block 19 which was steps away from our room. We did not know this would be a nightmare until the next day. The swim up pool that we paid for was full of guests from other blocks. Drinking all day, sitting on our deck and NOT getting out of the pool for any reason. Don't upgrade and save yourself hundreds of dollars. Just use any swim up you want. After 2 days of this BS I asked to move to another block which was better since there was no bar. The front desk advised us that if we emailed Karisma they would provide a refund for the 2 days we were not able to use our pool. Front desk was not honest and never disclosed ALL guests had access to this swim up bar. We were constantly harassed by the time share people who would not take NO for an answer. I emailed Karisma and her response was a firm NO. She said we should have been thankful we had access to food, activities, drinks etc.. That's called an all inclusive idiot. I will never go to another Karisma resort ever again. SHAME ON YOU KARISMA !

I had the best stay with my kids (9 & 5 ) and my niece (21) ! We stayed in Building 11, 3rd floor, and it was absolutely AMAZING — the view was beautiful, the room was spotless always had fresh towels and topped up shower gels, the mini fridge is regularly stocked with water, soft drinks and beer, and the noise was kept to a minimum unless water aerobics was taking place by the swim out bar by building 11. The food was of a good standard with something for everyone, and if you’re a beach lover, the location couldn’t be more perfect. The service was excellent — big shout‑outs to Jada, Flamez, Tio, Jahnoy, Kaydene, the Mahogany restaurant team, Chef Michael and the lifeguards. Honestly, all the staff were amazing! Room service never failed me either! The atmosphere could be a bit livelier — things tend to quiet down after the evening show, and during the day it’s the entertainment team that keeps the energy up with dance classes and activities. As a younger guest, you might find it a little calm, but that’s understandable since the resort attracts a more mature crowd. Next time, I’ll definitely bring my Bluetooth speaker and create my own beach party! There were always sun-beds and towels available! Sometimes the staff roll up the towels and put them on the beds if the beach towel stations are unmanned but just ask someone around you if anyone's there and majority of the time it's vacant sun-beds with clean towels. So I travelled with extra towels for nothing! Overall, it was great value for money, and don’t believe every negative review, some people are just perfectionists. The bars were good too; if you’re particular about your drinks, bring your own Patrón or Hennessy. I had an amazing time at Azul, and I would absolutely come back! 🌺✨ .
