More New Orleans Restaurants
In a city that exudes as much history, mystery and charm as New Orleans, honeymooners have no shortage of once-in-a-lifetime dining opportunities where historic cafes, palatial restaurants, quirky voodoo dive bars and waterfront seafood bistros can be found all in one place. Restaurants serve a unique blend of creole and American cuisine, with plenty of international restaurants to satisfy even the most cosmopolitan tastes. Try a variety of restaurants to get a literal taste of what The Big Easy brings to the table…a fancy dinner date at an historic palace, a funky night of light eats and dancing at a bar/disco, and something casual on the water for lunch. These are only a few of the city’s endless amazing options:
- CAFE AMELIE.
This tucked-away cafe is a perfect culinary escape from the hustle and bustle of Royal Street. Reserve a table for two in the enchanting and lush gardens of the Princess of Monaco Courtyard, or enjoy the romance of a seat inside the historic Carriage House, giving couples two dining options at one magnificent little restaurant.
The allure of the garden is the cozy atmosphere, where you’ll dine surrounded by trickling fountains, lush greenery and torch flames sizzling in the southern air. The effect is especially magical after dark. If the weather isn’t right for dining al fresco, the charming Carriage House, built in 1858, is a delightful and historic alternative.
Enjoy the upscale Louisiana menu and fast, friendly service. Choose Cafe Amelie for a Sunday Brunch, a late lunch and afternoon tea, or a dinner by moon and torchlight. Enjoy a refreshing signature cocktail from the full bar and toast to a dream honeymoon laden with fine food and whimsical, New Orleans romance.

- COMMANDER’S PALACE.
Commander’s Palace is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience. A dramatic Garden Quarter mainstay since the 1800’s, the captivating turquoise and white facade, complete with turrets and columns, creates a fantasy vision and invites couples inside to partake in New Orleans tradition.
A multi-award-winning establishment, the atmosphere is bright and airy. Whether sitting in the classic dining room, the outdoor patio, or the glass-enclosed garden terrace, newlyweds marvel at the romanticism and fame this historic site continues to share.
The pleasant atmosphere is only matched by the marvelous marriage of American and Creole cuisine. For an early start in the Big Easy try their jazz brunch, or sleep in and head over for a hearty lunch perfected by their 25 cent margaritas. The idea at Commander’s Palace is to make diners feel like guests of friends at the perfect party, and they pull it off with flair.

- DICK AND JENNY’S.
The uptown location is a bit out of the way, but the mid 19th-century cottage setting will make you feel like dinner guests at the home of a close friend. The food is high end but the vibe is quirky and casual, making it a local favorite for celebrating.
Decorated plates and funky artwork line the walls, creating a rustic design accented with plenty of quaint decor, slowing life down and bringing you back to simpler times. The staff is as friendly as can be, and the chef is happy to accommodate special requests. The funky feeling here alone is worth the trip!

- MIMI’S IN THE MARIGNY.
Mimi’s in the Marigny is a trendy dive where locals mingle with an eclectic array of hip visitors from all around the world. Looking to shake it on the dance floor? A separate area upstairs has a harder party scene with a dash of jazz fancy, some live music and DJ’s spinning a soundtrack to your perfect honeymoon date that can last until early morning.
The tapas here are legendary, along with a great selection of beer, wine and bourbon at the bar. Serving a delicious selection of small plates, Mimi’s is perfect for a trendy night out for a light meal, plenty of drinks and some serious dancing to finish the evening.
As with many New Orleans restaurants smoking is still allowed, so the downstairs bar area can get a bit cloudy. For some couples, though, it’s all part of the authentic Southern experience.
