Romantic Nights at Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa, in Conca dei Marini:
If you are looking for a honeymoon in an absolutely gorgeous setting to completely decompress after your wedding, to experience ultimate pampering in a top-notch spa and with luxurious accommodations, think no further – this is the place!
Perched atop a cliff (yes, a cliff) on the Amalfi Coast, the Monastero Santa Rosa offers a truly unique, total romance experience. From the moment that the bell is rung to announce your arrival and a courteous and attentive reception staff offers you lavender-scented hot towels and a pair of cooling mint drinks, you know that you are in for a treat of a lifetime!
The renovation and conversion of the main building, originally a monastery for nuns, took over 11 years to complete – and the wait was well worth it. The attention to detail in the building is superb, and is matched by the outstanding service levels of the entire staff.
The heated infinity pool overlooking the Gulf of Salerno entices one to lounge for hours and the tiered gardens offer a couple a bit more privacy while retaining the spectacular views. The resort and its facilities from the restaurant and lounge areas to the outdoor gym are all oriented to provide water views.
The Spa is true luxury – a stone sauna, herbal steam room, an “experience” shower (really cool!), whirlpool, salt foot baths, hydrotherapy pools, crushed ice fountain and heated mosaic benches where one relaxes with some refreshments prior to enjoying one of many spa treatments.
I had an herbal, detoxing body wrap and massage, both of which were expertly done by a massage therapist who customizes the treatments to suit your personal tastes. I would suggest that you add on extra days to your stay here just to take advantage of this wonderful Spa, which is absolutely not to be missed!
For those who are a bit more athletically inclined, the hotel will provide you with a hiking guide to five historic walks with a range of difficulty from 1 to 3 and a range in duration from 3.5 to 7 hours. This is a great way to see even more spectacular views of this stunning area.
To complete your day’s experience, dining at the restaurant is a real treat. The food and wine selections are top notch without being pretentious and the friendly staff will graciously accommodate individual tastes.
A honeymoon at the Monastero Santa Rosa would be the highlight of any trip to the Amalfi Coast!
A Stay at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello.
Located on a high point above the charming village of Ravello, the Villa Cimbrone offers a beautiful venue for either an unforgettable wedding or a honeymoon experience. While strolling through the quiet pathways of the historic gardens, one is surprised with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Salerno along with sculptures and tea gardens.
The Villa itself exudes an elegant charm with multiple spaces to relax inside at the library, sitting rooms and reception areas, or outside at their many terraces, patios and dining facilities or pool. The Villas’ staff is very friendly and helpful and is focused on making your stay a most enjoyable one.
The Villa Cimbrone would be a great choice for a destination wedding as it offers many venues, all with spectacular views, and a wedding planner available to help you create your own unique experience. It should be noted that as the Villa is about a ten minute walk from the center of Ravello, honeymooners with mobility issues would need to make arrangements with the Villa as cars cannot fit on the narrow walk/steps up to the Villa.
For honeymooners wishing to explore Ravello and the surrounding area, the Villa Cimbrone would be natural choice as it offers promixity to the charming center of Ravello and the coastal town of Amalfi with its daily ferries to Positano and Capri.
For other honeymooners who just want to spend some quiet time relaxing at the pool, walking the garden paths and enjoying the Michelin Star rated restaurant’s food and wine, the Villa Cimbrone is certainly worth including on your itinerary!
ANTONIO NUSCHESE TAXI.
We were very fortunate to meet Antonio Nuschese on our first day during our visit to the Amalfi Coast. Antonio was our taxi driver for the entire trip, and really made our stay much more enjoyable. With some great recommendations for local restaurants and shopping as he drove us around all week, a honeymoon with Antonio at the wheel would mean discovering local things that you would otherwise pass right by. We were here for a destination wedding and, besides driving us around each day, he was also in charge of all the buses for the wedding. He arranged all the shuttles taking the wedding party around the area, the entire week prior to the wedding and on the wedding day itself.
Antonio is a fount of knowledge on the local area, having lived there all his life, and he provided us with some really interesting background information that we could never find in a guide book. and that only a local resident would know. Antonio is a true gentleman and surprised me on day two with a gift of a book! He was always reliable, on time, and speaks English perfectly.
On our final day we had him drive us from our hotel in Conca dei Marini to our Rome airport hotel, as my husband and I agreed that having Antonio drive us would be much more enjoyable than trying to deal with public transportation back to Rome. From start to finish, he was always at the helm of what turned out to be our perfect trip to the Amalfi Coast.

We had delightful lunch at Ristorante Max in the center of Positano’s shopping district. The restaurant has different sections – a terrace, a restaurant-style dining area and a section that looks and feels like it is part of someone’s family dining room complete with bookcases, paintings and two to three residential dining room tables. All this gave the restaurant a very warm yet eclectic atmosphere. The food was excellent and well presented. If one has the time and the interest, one can sign up for a cooking class with the chef.

We had both a lunch and a dinner here. Beautiful views of the coastline and Gulf of Salerno. Friendly wait-staff and delicious food and wine.
Conca dei Marini:
PICCADILLY CERAMICHE ARTISTICHE. Beautiful, high-quality and reasonably priced ceramics, along with a professional staff. While they have a vast selection of ceramics in stock and ready for purchase, they will also design and produce ceramic pieces to your specifications. We had some plates, bowls and a platter custom-made for us and the staff was extremely helpful in the process from start to finish. Truly a pleasant and memorable shopping experience!

VIA DEI RUFOLO BOUTIQUE.
I bought some very beautiful cashmere scarves here from Marcello, the owner’s son, who is very personable and helpful. The store carries very good quality cashmere – sweaters, scarves, etc. – and also some very unique items such as handbags made out of silk scarves. This is definitely a fun place to shop!
