Explore Japan with The Art of Travel

Property Overview

ENGAGEMENTS, WEDDINGS, & HONEYMOONS: these are important days in our lives that deserve special recognition. Spending time in an unforgettable location is a surefire way to make these events even more memorable. Imagine having your engagement blessed by a Shinto priest in full regalia, or celebrating your recent nuptials in your own traditional Japanese house with a private geisha performance…. The possibilities are endless and can be crafted to your personal interests. Below is a suggested package trip including several of Japan’s most desirable destinations.

Your trip begins in Tokyo, the city that truly never sleeps. From the Imperial Palace to the youthful energy of Harajuku; the exciting island of Odaiba to the thriving Tsukiji fish market, Tokyo has more to offer than almost any city in the world.

From there, you’ll fly to Kanazawa, renowned for its arts, culture, and cuisine. You’ll stay in a renovated machiya (traditional Japanese townhouse) tucked away in one of the city’s historic teahouse and pleasure districts. Here, you can enjoy various hands-on experiences such as calligraphy or kin maki-e (applying gold and silver dust to lacquerware), as well as a private dinner and entertainment by two local geisha. The city offers a diverse menu of options, as well as the best sushi in the country.

Next, the history-rich city of Kyoto, home to ancient temples and shrines, beautiful neighborhoods, and gorgeous views. Choose from among the city’s most fascinating destinations, such as Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji (the “Golden Pavilion”), and Sanjusangendo, to name just a few. Rent bikes in lovely Arashiyama, or hire a jinrikisha for an entertaining tour of the area, including a lush bamboo forest.

Finally, end your trip with two days relaxing in the resort region of Hakone. Enjoy the fabulous cuisine and restorative hot springs; stroll the quiet meandering streets at dusk as you prepare for your return home.
