Situated on Praslin Island and located right in by a World Heritage Site is the Raffles Hotel. Opening in 2011 this is the first Raffles resort in the Indian Ocean. The island is a beautiful tropical paradise, home to the Coco de Mer palm, which can be found nowhere else in the world!
The resort offers everything a couple looking for a romantic getaway could ask for. It is a villa only resort, each with their own private plunge pool, racking up 89 in all. Just because guests are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern life doesn’t mean they are forced to give up modern amenities. All villas come complete with complimentary WiFi, a coffee machine, a huge 43” inch HDTV and DVD player. Venture out onto the outdoor pavilion and guests are met with stunning view of a powdery white sand beach, a barbeque and even their own personal wine cellar.
Not only is this the first Raffles Resort in the Indian Ocean, it is also the first with a signature Raffles Spa. They even offer the chance to receive treatments outside in their six open air pavilions, nestled among rock formations and close enough to hear the quiet lapping of the sea. There are also opportunities to unwind with their yoga and pilates sessions, or simply refresh in the steam room or sauna.
There is an impressive array of ways to dine on this resort, guests can visit the Curieuse Restaurant for fresh caught seafood, including sushi, or expertly prepared and grilled steaks. Those looking for a little more privacy can eat in their villa via the butler service. However, guests looking for a little more romance can dine together on a secluded beach or even a private yacht – though bringing insect repellent, or citronella candles, is recommended to ward of sand flies. After eating the Takamata rooftop terrace offers an impressive array of cocktails and shisha pipes for those looking to watch the sun melt into the horizon.
Snorkelers will be in their element here; a reef serves to keep the water calm and provides a safe haven for smaller, colourful tropical fish. Those looking for something a little more active will not be disappointed, there is a golf course nearby and the resort offers water sports, though nothing motorised.
There are packages available for guests looking to get married on the tropical island and couples visiting for a honeymoon.
