DESTINATION WEDDING CHECK LIST

  • Make sure that your resort has a wedding planner on staff or ask if they can recommend one. Talk to that person and begin making arrangements before you leave home. Make an appointment to meet him or her upon arrival.

  • Set your destination wedding date. This is often determined by legal rules and regulations of the country where you are being married.  Some places require a stay of a few days before you can marry.

  •  If family and friends are coming to your destination wedding, ask for discounts for multiple room bookings.

  • Plan your wedding day.  Will you get married in the morning or at sunset? What will you do immediately after the ceremony? Stay in your wedding finery? Go to the bar for a champange toast. Linger over dinner for two in the gourmet  restaurant? Join another honeymoons couple for dinner? Enjoy a celebratory launch or dinner with your wedding party? Go to the dining room the day before and let them know that you want the meal to be special and reserve a romantic table.

  • Ask about photographers and talk to him or her before leaving home.  Discuss payment. Some want to be paid in cash.  Discuss film, especially if you want color and black and white photos.

  • Decide on the location where you want the ceremony to take place. Go to see it.

  • Choose a color theme.
